NBA future odds will change with Brand deal

advertisement
NBA Elton Brand

The gates were opened on available free agents in the NBA on Wednesday, and a few big names were quickly scooped up.

Most of the big signings and new teams were leaked beforehand, but nothing was truly official until the ink dried on the page on Wednesday. Leading the signings was a mammoth deal that saw Elton Brand abandon the Los Angeles Clippers and head east to join the Philadelphia 76ers.

Before the Brand deal was official the 76ers were a 60/1 underdog to win the NBA Championship over at . With Brand alongside 76ers stars Andre Iguodala, Andre Miller, and Samuel Dalembert you can expect those odds to change quickly.

The Clippers also said goodbye to Corey Maggette on Wednesday, as the swingman signed on with Golden State. A move from the Warriors was expected after it was leaked late last week that Baron Davis was opting out of his contract and leaving Golden State.

Oddly enough Davis' destination just happened to be the Clippers. Before their two losses became official, and before Davis became a Clipper, Los Angeles was a 50/1 underdog on the NBA futures odds at .

The Warriors were a 40/1 underdog at before the revolving door started spinning in Golden State. Look for changes to both sometime this week.

One move that finally got done on Wednesday was a trade between Toronto and Indiana that has been known about since before the draft. The main pieces of the deal are Jermaine O'Neal (heading to Toronto) and T.J. Ford and Rasho Nesterovic (going to Indiana).

Indiana already received Brandon Rush, Jarrett Jack, and Josh McRoberts for Jarryd Bayless and Ike Diogu in a separate trade with Portland, while Toronto made sure they wouldn't miss Ford by re-signing free agent Jose Calderon.

Are either Toronto or Indiana better or worse? You might get an answer by checking to see what their future odds look like at Sportbook.com later in the week. Before the moves Toronto was a 40/1 underdog, and Indiana was a 100/1 longshot.

It could be a great time to secure some NBA future odds value before the lines all change to reflect these free agency developments.
