Monday Night Football Preview

The Green Bay Packers take to the field for the first time in their post-Favre era on Monday night, as they get their preseason started at home versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
Over at the Packers are a 3-point favorite in Monday night's game, which will be Aaron Rodgers' first chance to prove he can succeed as Favre's successor in Green Bay.
In three seasons in Green Bay, Rodgers has attempted just 59 passes with only one TD strike, so he should see at least one quarter of action on Monday night as he prepares for what might be an impossible task of replacing a legend. When Rodgers does exit Monday's game rookies Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn will see some action.
One Green Bay starter who will likely miss Monday's game is running back Ryan Grant. Grant was already behind in his season preparations after missing part of training camp due to a contract holdout, and he missed more time over the weekend after suffering a hamstring injury.
Right now Grant is considered questionable for Monday, and even if he does play he will likely be extremely limited.
The Bengals also have some starters dealing with injuries that may be forced to miss Monday night's game - Chad Johnson has a nagging ankle injury that has kept him out for most of training camp, and T.J. Houshmandzadeh has been playing with sore legs.
Both are questionable for Monday, and like Grant if they do play it won't be for long. If Johnson and Houshmandzadeh are limited on Monday it will likely also mean a very short night for starting QB Carson Palmer.
Two years ago in the preseason the Bengals routed the Packers 48-17. The total for Monday night's game is set at only 36 points at , so unless the oddsmakers are way off, the rematch won't be another high-scoring shootout.
