NFL preseason betting recap

Cincinnati dropped their first preseason game Sunday night, but they could have suffered an even bigger loss when star wide receiver Chad Johnson went down with a shoulder injury. Johnson landed badly on his shoulder while diving for a pass in the Bengals' 27-10 loss to Detroit.
The Bengals were a 3.5-point favorite in the game. The Lions got a solid game from backup quarterback Drew Stanton in the win, as he had a touchdown pass and also ran in for a score.
Also on Sunday night, the Buccaneers stormed past New England 27-10 as a 3-point favorite. Luke McCown threw the Bucs' lone TD pass, while Earnest Graham rumbled for 13 yards and a touchdown on five carries.
Kevin O'Connell and Matt Cassel split quarterbacking duties for New England, as Tom Brady sat out the game with a sore foot.
Week 2 of the preseason finishes up Monday night with Cleveland traveling to New York to face the Giants. The Browns began the preseason last week with a 24-20 loss to the New York Jets (minus Brett Favre) as a 4.5-point favorite.
The Giants also lost their preseason debut, 13-10 to the Lions as a 3-point road underdog. The latest odds from Bodog have the Giants pegged as a 2-point favorite in the Monday nighter.
Looking ahead to Week 3 of the preseason, kicking off the week is a Thursday night tilt between San Francisco and Chicago. The 49ers and the Bears both played on Saturday, so they head into Thursday night's game on only five days rest.
Look for Chicago to be favored in this game at online sportsbooks such as and , as the 49ers have lost their last 10 preseason games on the road straight-up.
There are four Friday night games on the preseason schedule in Week 3, including Philadelphia at New England in a rematch of Super Bowl XXXIX. The Eagles have fared as well against the Patriots in the preseason as they did in the Super Bowl, with an 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS record against them.
Also on the docket is Tennessee at Atlanta, Houston at Dallas in the battle of Texas, and Green Bay at Denver.
As usual Saturday is the busiest day for the preseason, with nine games on the schedule. Highlighting these matchups is a New York showdown between the Giants and the Jets, a Florida battle between Jacksonville and Tampa Bay, and a clash between two superb passing attacks when New Orleans drops in on Cincinnati.
The undefeated Redskins also return to the gridiron on Saturday night in Carolina versus the 1-1 Panthers. Rounding out the rest of Saturday's games are Cleveland at Detroit, Kansas City at Miami, Baltimore at St. Louis, Pittsburgh at Minnesota, and Arizona at Oakland.
