Day 9 in Beijing could be another record breaker, as USA golden boy Michael Phelps attempts to pass the great Mark Spitz by winning his eighth gold medal.
As thrilling as these victories have been in the pool, think of how exciting they would be if you were pocketing cash each time?
The final race for Phelps is scheduled for late Saturday night, which is Sunday morning in Beijing. Phelps will need some help to claim gold medal No. 8, though, as his final event of the Beijing games is the 4x100 meter medley relay.
The American team is stacked with medal winners, and will be heavily favored in this race.
On the track the men's 100 meters crowned the world's fastest man during Day 8, and the world's fastest woman will be determined on Day 9 when the women's 100 meter final is run.
The favorite on 's Olympic odds list heading into Saturday's final is Jamaica's Kerron Stewart at even money. Stewart finished a disappointing 7th in the 100 meters at last year's World Championships, but earlier this year she won the Jamaican national championships and outran the reigning world champion, Veronica Campbell, in the process.
The Jamaican track team is so good that Campbell finished fourth in qualifying and failed to qualify for the 100 meters at the Olympics. Also running in the 100 meters for Jamaica will be Shelly Ann Fraser (+450), and Sherone Simpson (+550).
If a Jamaican doesn't end up taking the gold then an American likely will. Team USA has three major contenders to the gold, led by Lauryn Williams, who was second at last year's worlds. Williams is listed at +250 at , while other American favorites include Torri Edwards (+400) and Muna Lee (+450).
Also on the Day 9 schedule is the gold medal match in men's tennis between Rafael Nadal and Fernando Gonzalez. Nadal took care of Novak Djokovic in his semi-final match 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. Gonzalez upset James Blake, 4-6, 7-5, 11-9 in his semi-final match.
Nadal and Gonzalez have met six times on the ATP Tour, with each winning three times. However, all three of Nadal's wins came on clay surfaces, while Gonzalez won every match on hard court. Olympic tennis matches are all played on hard court.
