2024 Paris Olympics: A Tale of Triumphs and Controversies
Highlights and Low Points That Defined the Games

What’s so funny about Peace, Love, and Misunderstandings? That could easily be the theme of the 2024 Paris Olympic memories. In Olympic news, there was great sportsmanship, plenty of emotion, and the spectacle of unfounded allegations and disputes, all adding layers to the 2024 Paris Olympic memories.
The latter didn’t take away from the overall success of how the French ran the games. They set a high, high bar for those in Los Angeles with the 2028 Olympics. Aside from polluted water in the Seine, there weren’t many complaints about the venues and the way the games were run, leaving us with fond 2024 Paris Olympic memories.
To be frank, at a time when Taylor Swift had to cancel concerts in Europe because of an ISIS threat, the Olympics went off smoothly unless you want to focus on some loon climbing the Eiffel Tower on Sunday before the grand closing ceremonies.

The Best of the Best Memories
- Noah Lyles won the 100M in the final stride.
- Simone Biles returned to gymnastics prominence after the troubles in Tokyo.
- Cole Hocker’s stunning win in the men’s 1,500M
- Sydney McLaughlin being Sydney McLaughlin in the 400 hurdles. The greatest.
- USA men’s and women’s basketball.
- Leon Marchand in the swimming pool.
- The USA’s overall performance in track and field. Dominance.
- Snoop Dogg.
- Sifan Hassan running and medaling in 5K, 10K and winning gold in the women’s marathon.
- We could go on and on but you get the picture.

2024 Paris Olympic memories: The Worst
- Everyone suddenly becomes a gender expert from afar, challenging the two boxers who went on to win gold medals. It started with an Italian boxer quitting 46 seconds into a fight and erupted into international nastiness. Unfortunate.
- Jordan Chiles was stripped of a bronze medal for filing an appeal four seconds too late.
- USA Boxing … does it even exist? Once upon a time, boxing was all over Olympic broadcasts. In 2024, you would hardly have known it existed.
- The unfortunate call of Jamaica winning the 100M by NBC’s announcer.
- USA high jumper refusing to share golds. He redeemed himself by saying that the sport was meant to have one champion and he was proud of the silver and would be back in 2028.
- The Opening Cerremonies. Skipping the Parade of Nations was a gaffe, especially when the athletes had to ride in boats during a driving rain.
Overall, the French did a splendid job running a difficult event, adding to the 2024 Paris Olympic memories. Kudos.
Until 2028 in LA, Au revoir.
