Carlos Alcaraz Goes Back-to-Back at Wimbledon
Spanish Star Throttles Novak Djokovic in Straight Sets
Alcaraz wins Wimbledon 2024: Spanish Star Throttles Novak Djokovic in Straight Sets
The dream rematch turned into a mismatch as Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeated Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in straight sets on Sunday to win his second straight Wimbledon crown. Alcaraz wins Wimbledon 2024, showcasing his dominance on the grass court.
The final score was 6-2, 6-2, 7-6, with the tiebreak going to the Spaniard (7-4).
“It is a dream for me, winning this trophy,” Alcaraz said. “It’s a great feeling to play on this beautiful court, to lift this amazing trophy.”
To win here is special. To defend here is elite.

In tennis news, this match was far different than the 2023 meeting that saw Djokovic extend Alcaraz to five sets before falling. Alcaraz wins Wimbledon 2024 with a tremendous record in majors, now 4-0 in Major Championship Finals. He joins an elite group to win the French and Wimbledon in the same year.
The legendary Rod Laver celebrated Alcaraz’s accomplishment.
Djokovic finds himself in unfamiliar territory as tennis heads to the US Open next month. This was the fifth time in his career in 37 Grand Slam finals that he lost in straight sets.
“Obviously not the result that I wanted, especially the first couple of sets,” Djokovic said. “The level of tennis wasn’t up to par, really, from my side. He had it all today. I tried to push him. … It wasn’t meant to be.”
He overcame match points at 4-5 in the third set only to see Alcaraz finish the championship in the tiebreak.
The players drew significant interest in sports betting as two of the highest seeds in the grass-court championship.
Royalty in the House
Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, attended the match. She gave the trophies to runner-up Djokovic and champion Alcaraz.
Middleton has been fighting cancer and this was a rare appearance by Her Royal Highness.

Alcaraz did his job and wanted Spain’s football team to do its part in the Euro Final later Sunday against England.
Alcaraz wins Wimbledon 2024, cementing his place as a top contender in the world of tennis and continuing his impressive run in major tournaments.
