Fraser-Pryce arrived at the track and wanted to go to the warmup area to get ready for her heat. She was going to face USA star Sha’Carri Richardson in the race. However, security guards refused to let Fraser-Pryce into the warmup area, believing she did not arrive on the team bus.

She said they changed the rule yesterday” Fraser-Pryce said. “How you going to change the rule and then not say? So you’re asking all the athletes who, for whatever reason, don’t stay in the (athlete) village, they can’t come through the gate? We came through this gate yesterday and went through security and it was OK. They want us to go all the way up to where everybody is exiting … that’s crazy!”

Fraser-Pryce, 37, has won eight Olympic medals since taking gold in the 100M in 2008. Drama at 2024 Olympics continues to unfold with unexpected events like these.

Boxing Dispute Continues

The ugliness in – and out of – the boxing ring continued. Algeria’s Imane Khelif defeated Anna Luca Hamori of Hungary 5:0 in the quarterfinals of the women’s 66-kilogram bout. Khelif is now guaranteed a bronze medal. A win in her next bout would mean gold or silver.

Khelif has had her gender questioned in what has turned into international controversy and discussion, not always level-headed. Drama at 2024 Olympics continues with controversies like these.

An Algerian Twitter account showed derogatory comments Hamori allegedly posted:

More attributed to Hamori

Khelif’s opponent Saturday, Hungary’s Anna Luca Hamori initially said that she was “not scared” of the upcoming fight, but spread misinformation by adding: “I don’t care about the press story and social media. If she or he is a man, it will be a bigger victory for me if I win.”

Khelif left the media area in tears.

Her father Amir, defended his daughter:

“The attacks against her are immoral, it is not fair,” he told the Sun. “Imane is a little girl that has loved sport since she was six-years-old, she used to play football.”

“These critics and rumours aim to destabilize Imane, they don’t want her to be the champion of the world.”

“I tell her prove them wrong in the ring and I hope that she will honour Algeria and Arabic countries and win the gold medal.”

“She is our role model, and we want to be like her and honour Algeria and Tiaret.”
