Georgia Bulldog Staffer Out after Betting on Pro Sports Events
School Handled Business without Identifying Party
The Georgia football program has seen great success. However, with it, seems to have come great problems. In college football news, the Bulldogs dismissed a staffer who was found to have made bets on pro sports, highlighting Georgia football problems.

This compounds the recent spate of auto-related issues with players on the team. At last count, Georgia football players have been involved in 24 driving-related violations (DUI, reckless driving, or speeding), The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported, including a crash that killed a player and a recruiting staffer in January 2023, further emphasizing Georgia football problems..

The school handled the sports betting incident in-house without identifying the person. Onlineathens.com reported that the wagers were placed in August 2020 but remained undiscovered and unprocessed until 2023.
“If another SEC institution hires the staff member in the future, the staff member must complete a sports gambling education program/session, and the hiring institution must submit a written plan to the Conference office for monitoring the staff member to assure he does not commit similar violations in the future” according to UGA’s violation summary.
Georgia Football Problems: Betting Scandals and Off-Field Issues
This is not the first sports betting incident for the Dawgs. In 2022, a player placed a bet on a sports betting app. The school reported that.
Coach Kirby Smart addressed the sports wagering issue last year.
“We’ve had issues with that in the past, too” Kirby Smart said in May of 2023. “It’s more prevalent. I can’t turn the TV on now without seeing something. There’s a lot of debate out there about what’s right and what’s wrong, but the NCAA rule is pretty harsh for gambling relative to some other things. It’s pretty obvious why. They don’t want that infiltrating teams.”
Smart addressed the auto-related issues this week at SEC Media Days.
“I’ll be the first to admit we haven’t solved that issue” Smart told a group of reporters before he took the stage at SEC Media Days. The incidents that have been happening off the field are not something we condone. “It’s very unfortunate, ‘disappointing’ I guess is the best word. I always talk about processing outcomes in wins and losses. We try not to base things on outcomes. In this case, the outcomes are very disappointing.”

This followed safety David Daniel-Sisavanh’s dismissal from the team on Tuesday for a February incident where he led police on a pursuit in Atlanta.
Georgia is 42-2 in its last three seasons. Smart is 94-16 (.855) since taking over as head coach of the college football powerhouse. With triumphs come trials and tragedy. Someone in Athens needs to decide whether winning is more important than the cost of being reckless while savoring success.
