Dodgers’ Julio Urias Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

This Time, It’s In Handcuffs and Into Custody

Dodgers’ star left-hander, Julio Urias, found himself in handcuffs late Sunday night. He was arrested and slapped with felony domestic violence charges, sending shockwaves through the sports world. But Urias was taken into custody, only to be released early Monday morning after posting a $50,000 bond.

The arrest came after an alleged witness said Urias was with a woman, in a crowd, and he got physical with her.

Not the First Time!

This isn’t Urias’s first brush with controversy. Back in 2019, he faced allegations of shoving a female companion to the ground, resulting in his arrest. At that time, Major League Baseball (MLB) placed him on administrative leave while launching an investigation. Ultimately, the Los Angeles city attorney deferred prosecution in that case, it was not even ‘Julio Urias arrested and let go’.

FIY, under MLB’s comprehensive policy on domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse, the league has the authority to impose disciplinary actions even without formal charges. Consequently, Urias received a 20-game suspension.

Uncertainty Rears Its Ugly Head

The details surrounding this recent incident remain murky. However, it’s reasonable to expect a similar investigative process to unfold soon, with Julio Urias arrested and likely to be placed on administrative leave once again as MLB digs deep into the allegations.

During an administrative leave period, players continue to receive their salaries and accumulate service time, but these privileges can be revoked if a suspension is eventually imposed. Notably, there’s no set duration for administrative leave; it lasts as long as necessary to complete the investigation.

Worse Still: Free Agency Looms Up Ahead

To make matters more complicated, Urias is on track for free agency at the end of the season. This more recent arrest casts a shadow over his career and future in baseball.

As the situation unfolds, baseball fans worldwide are left wondering about the consequences for Urias and the impact this incident might have on the Dodgers, what with Julio Urias arrested and all. No other player has been suspended twice under MLB’s domestic violence policy, created in 2015. That’s something to keep under your hat!
