“I am incredibly honored to accept this opportunity to captain the United States Team at the 2025 Ryder Cup,” Bradley, who at 39 at the time of next year’s event will be the youngest Ryder Cup captain since 34-year-old Arnold Palmer was a playing captain in 1963, said in a statement. “I would like to thank the PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee for their trust in me as we embark on this journey to Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.
“My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger. The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport, and this edition will undoubtedly be particularly special given the rich history and enthusiastic spectators at this iconic course. I look forward to beginning preparations for 2025.”
Interestingly, Bradley was a surprise choice. There were golf rumors that Tiger Woods was offered the position and declined.

Stewart Cink Reveals Tiger Turned Down Position
Subsequently, Stewart Cink revealed that Tiger Woods had turned down the position. “I thought he should have first run at it and he has,” Cink told reporters at the Renaissance Club, where he is playing at this week’s Genesis Scottish Open.
“It doesn’t surprise me that he’s turned it down because since he’s stepped into the board position – the PGA Tour is pretty busy right now and he’s got a lot away from the course too with his injuries and trying to recover and get himself in the kind of condition that he can play. He wants to play.”
The Ryder Cup event takes place from Sept. 22-28, 2025 at the famed Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York.
Hometown Edge for Bradley?
Bradley brings a bit of a hometown edge to the event for Team USA. He went to school at St. John’s, where he is in the Red Storm Athletics Hall of Fame. The Bethpage Black course is about 25 miles from the St. John’s campus in Queens, New York.
Additionally, this is a form of redemption for new Ryder Cup captain Bradley. He was snubbed from the previous Ryder Cup team as a captain’s choice by Zach Johnson in 2023.
Bob Harig reporting that Keegan Bradley, a player left off the most recent Ryder Cup team and one with a connection to Bethpage, is expected to be named U.S. captain tomorrow.
If true, it is without a doubt the most outside-the-box selection in team history. https://t.co/u8WXfTExjh

Bradley played on the team twice before (2012 and ‘14). He is 4-3 in Ryder Cup matches. A six-time winner on the PGA Tour, Bradley captured the PGA Championship in 2011.
