Olympic Champion Logan Martin Robbed Before Games Begin
Perils Continue Before Opening Ceremonies
The list of issues before the 2024 Summer Olympic Games kick off Friday in Paris continues to grow. The latest problem involves Australian BMX champion Logan Martin, who was the victim of a smash-and-grab in Belgium. Logan Martin was robbed while preparing for the games.

“Our van got broken into last night” Martin wrote on social media. “Luckily my bikes weren’t in there, although my bike bags were in there with some things in it. Crazy start to the trip.”

The 30-year-old is defending the gold medal he won in the BMX freestyle in Tokyo but his preparations have taken a shocking turn after the van carrying some of his equipment to the Games was robbed in Belgium. Logan Martin robbed of essential gear just before the Olympics competition.
“Luckily most of our stuff was in our room and we managed to recover a lot of it too” Martin said. “I lost my wallet, backpack and a few other things but overall it didn’t end up being too bad. It’s unfortunate when people feel the need to do things like this.”
Tracking Devices Paid Dividends
Martin was fortunate enough to use bag tracking devices he had previously installed on his equipment to pinpoint the location of his belongings, which had been scattered throughout a nearby park. The thieves feasted on chocolate bars Martin had in his van, leaving the wrappers around the rest of the equipment that was discovered.

SkyNews reported issues for Australian media members in Paris. Thieves ambushed two Channel 9 crew members as they walked back to their accommodation in the outskirts of Paris on Monday afternoon. Thugs tried to steal one of their backpacks and assaulted them.
