Ryan Garcia Banned By World Boxing Council
Troubled Boxer Expelled After Hateful, Racist Comments on Social Media

Ryan Garcia has gone too far … for the WBC. The controversial – read that troubled – boxer was expelled by the boxing organization for posting racial slurs and hateful comments. It is another tumbled in the downward spiral for a fighter that many fear has mental health issues.
“We reject any form of discrimination,” President Marcel Sulaiman posted on Twitter in announcing Garcia is banned from the WBC “I fear for Ryan well being as he has declined multiple attempts for our help with mental health and substance abuse.”

Exercising my authority as president of the WBC , I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization. We reject any form of discrimination. The latest ban comes after the New York State Athletic Commission suspended Garcia for a year following his April 20 win over Devin Haney. Boxing odds had Garcia as a long shot to win. Garcia tested positive for the PED ostarine after that win and it is now a no-contest.
The NYSAC ban is retroactive to the date of the Haney fight and it means there will not be any upcoming boxing matches for Garcia until April 20, 2025, at the earliest. This latest punishment, Garcia banned from the WBC, could be far longer and have deeper repercussions.
Garcia’s comments cross every line and are beyond unacceptable from anyone. A NSFW example of some of his rants.
“I hate n*****s, I’m anti-Black … N*****, I’m KKK, I hate n*****s … Hey, let’s go bring George Floyd back to life and kill that n***** again.’
🥊 Garcia banned from the WBC: Family Rebukes Comments by Troubled Son
The hateful spews were so offensive his parents felt the need to take to Twitter/social media to disavow their son’s comments.

“Our family unequivocally does not support any statements [Garcia] has made regarding race or religion — these do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised,” the family’s statement read. “Those who know Ryan can attest to this fact. Ryan has been open about his ongoing struggle with mental health over the years and as a family we are committed to ensuring and encouraging that he receives the necessary help to navigate this very challenging time and address both his immediate and long-term well-being.”
🥊 Social Media Obsessed with Garcia
Garcia has battled mental health issues throughout his career. As a fighter, he is 24–1-1 with 20 KOs. He is a social media phenom with more than 12 million followers on Instagram and 8 million on TikTok. He is always in boxing news … for the wrong reasons.
That could indicate how much of a train wreck his life has become, as people often find those who are controversial and crumbling more fascinating than those who are intelligent and interesting.
Ultimately, the goal should be for Garcia to recognize he needs help. However, given the path he has chosen, that seems unlikely and dangerous.
