Reports indicated that glass from a shattered Teleprompter injured Trump, but none of the bullets struck him during the Trump Rally Shooting.
Secret Service agents surrounded the former president as they escorted him off stage, while police officers with long guns quickly moved to secure the area.
Trump waved his fist as he left the stage.
US Secret Service
The Secret Service issued a statement:
“An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has implemented protective measures, and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available.”
Trump’s team also released a statement:
“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”
He was reported as being checked at a medical facility near the rally.
The shots rang out as Trump was speaking:
“And then the worst president in the history of our country took over. And look what happened to our country. Probably 20 million people [came in illegally]. And, you know, that’s a little bit old, that chart… that chart’s a couple of months old. And if you want to really see something that sad, take a look at what happened over…” Trump said as gunfire rang out.
Trump said, “Let me get my shoes,” as they brought him to his feet and hustled him off-stage during the Trump Rally Shooting.
The Butler County DA reported that the shooter is dead along with a bystander. Another spectator is in “serious” condition.
An eyewitness in a BBC interview provided a stunning account of what is now being called an “assassination attempt.”
