Simone Biles Second-Best in Floor Routine
American Star Finishes Olympics with Silver Medal Behind Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade

Olympic upset alert! In shocking Olympic news – no controversy here – Simone Biles did not win the floor exercise in the gymnastics competition in Paris.
Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade became the first gymnast to beat Biles in a floor final in a major international competition, posting a score of 14.166, which bettered Biles at 14.133.

How did it happen? Olympic upset alert! Biles stepped out of bounds a couple of times in her routine and that cost her. American Jordan Chiles won the bronze.

In all, Biles won her fourth medal in Paris and 11th Olympic medal overall.
“I can’t be more proud of how I’ve done” Biles said. “I’m 27 years old walking away from this Games with four medals to add to my collection. Not mad about it.”
“I’ve accomplished way [more than I thought I would]. A couple years ago, I didn’t think I’d be back here.”
Neither Biles nor Chiles medaled in the balance beam. Both had falls in their performances in that event.
Is this the end of the Olympics for Biles? She took to social media to tease and chastise media for wondering if she will be back in LA in 2028 when she is 31.
you guys really gotta stop asking athletes what’s next after they win a medal at the Olympics

200 Meter Heats See USA Thrive
Noah Lyles is seeking the 100-200M double. He took the first steps to the second half of that on Monday, advancing out of his heat with a time of 20.19. It was sixth-best on the day but easily good enough to move on.
Fellow Americans Kenneth Bednarek and Erriyon Knighton were first and second overall with times of 19.96, and 19.99, respectively.
On the women’s side, all three advanced out of their races.

Gender Dispute Rolls on at Paris Olympics
The International Olympic Committee isn’t backing off in the dispute over gender of two boxers. Both will continue onto their medal bouts.
“These athletes have been competing in senior competitions for six years with no issues,” IOC spokesperson Mark Adams said. “These women were eligible for this contest, remain eligible for this contest and compete in this contest
Khelif, faces Thailand’s Janjaem Suwannapheng on Tuesday. Lin takes on Turkey’s Esra Kahraman Yildiz on Wednesday. Each is already guaranteed a bronze medal.
Khelif, of Algeria, made a strong statement against bullying: “I send a message to all the people of the world to uphold the Olympic principles and the Olympic Charter, to refrain from bullying all athletes, because this has effects, massive effects” Khelif told the outlet in Arabic, translated by the AP.
“It can destroy people, it can kill people’s thoughts, spirit and mind. It can divide people. And because of that, I ask them to refrain from bullying.”
Olympic Cups Are Being Collected Around Paris
These cups are all over the #Olympics . I haven’t yet seen anyone create massive cup snakes or hoard them like Masters cups, but that’s probably because they’re each an extra €2 on top of your drink cost.

The Last Word
NBC announcer Leigh Diffey botched the call of the finish of the 100M on Sunday, He said Jamaica won when it was Noah Lyles of the United States who took the gold.
Diffey managed to comment on social media, saying he was wrong. Ya think?
The men’s 100 was epic & closest of all time! My eyes & instinct told me Kishane Thompson won. Obviously, that wasn’t the case. I shouldn’t have been so bold to call it, but I genuinely thought he won. I got it wrong. I am thrilled for @LylesNoah as his story only gets bigger!
