Simone Biles To Return to Competitive Gymnastics

She Registered at the US Classic, But Will She Compete?

In exciting news for gymnastics enthusiasts, Simone Biles, the decorated 26-year-old gymnast, is apparently making a potential return to competitive gymnastics.

Biles, whose surprising withdrawal from the Tokyo Olympics garnered worldwide attention, has been listed as an entrant for the highly anticipated US Classic event.

Scheduled to take place on August 5 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, just outside of Chicago, this event has sparked interest about Biles’ imminent comeback.

Let’s not forget, though, that, while her entry in the US Classic serves as a strong indication of a possible international return, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has said inscription is not the same as participation in the upcoming world championships to take place in Antwerp, Belgium, from September 30 to October 8.

Withdrawal From Tokyo – Mental and Emotional Challenges

Biles captured global attention during the Tokyo Olympics when she withdrew from the women’s team final due to a gymnastics phenomenon known as the twisties — a mental block that causes one to lose track of one’s position midair. Consequently, she decided not to compete in four individual finals.

Biles has remained candid about the mental and emotional challenges she faces in gymnastics. She has emphasized the importance of prioritizing mental health and has sought therapy to address her concerns.

She has won a total of seven Olympic medals, including four golds, throughout her illustrious career. In recent times, Biles also made headlines by announcing her marriage to NFL player Jonathan Owens, who recently joined the Green Bay Packers. Her personal life continues to evolve alongside her extraordinary sporting journey.

NFL QB Brady Quinn’s Unintentional Slip-Up

The bombshell was dropped in a surprising turn of events by Brady Quinn, known to football fans as a former Notre Dame quarterback and Cleveland Browns first-round pick. While Quinn’s NFL career may not have been the highlight of his professional journey, his lesser-known connection to gymnastics uses the moniker Mr. Alicia Sacramone. Alicia is a renowned U.S. gymnast and current strategy lead for USA Gymnastics’ women’s program, besides being Quinns significant other.

He found himself tangled up in breaking news regarding Biles that raised eyebrows and sparked curiosity. During an episode of the Pick Six podcast, the conversation veered toward Christian Watson racing Simone Biles at AJ Dillon’s Memorial Day party.

Co-host Katie Mox was trying to get some predictions from Brady Quinn, when suddenly Quinn blurted out something that seemed to slip out unintentionally: “I don’t know if this is public or not. Simone Biles is returning to compete”.

Mox, stopped short by this unexpected insider information, then playfully commented on Quinn’s privileged access while teasing him about his wife’s reaction to his slip-up.

But Fans Were Already in the Know

Either way, gymnastics fans were already aware of Biles’ return to training. Prior to Quinn’s inadvertent disclosure, there had been rumors and speculation circulating, particularly on platforms such as GymCastic, so, while Quinn’s comment may have added an extra layer of confirmation and excitement, he did not fully break the news of Biles’ comeback. They had already beaten him to it.

The US Classic, considered a precursor to the US Championships, holds significant importance on USA Gymnastics’ annual calendar. It traditionally serves as a warm-up event before the national championships, which are scheduled for late August in San Jose.
