Women’s Soccer Team Headed for Gold Medal Matchup

The United States women’s soccer team will go for the gold on Saturday in Paris. In soccer news at the Olympics, Sophia Smith scored in the 95th minute on Tuesday to give the USA a 1-0 win over Germany. This marks the first time the U.S. will play for the gold since 2012, significantly improving their Paris gold medal odds.

Smith’s goal broke a scoreless tie and could not have been more clutch. The United States will play againts Brazil, which thrashed Spain, for the gold medal. The USA and Brazil have met on the women’s pitch 19 times since 2007 with teams in one form or another.
