Lyles Second in Semifinal
100-meter winner Noah Lyles advanced to the finals of the 200. This was a bit different as he lost a race in the event for the first time since the Tokyo Olympics. Lyles finished .12 behind Letsile Tebogo of Botswana. The chance to turn the tables comes up again in the final as Lyles looks to complete the double.
The US Women Rout Nigeria
A remarkable streak continues as the USA women’s basketball team upped its stretch without a loss to 59 straight wins. Nigeria was gritty no match for the gold-medal favorites in an 88-74 loss. The game was that close because Nigeria had a 12-0 run late in the fourth quarter.
In basketball news, LeBron James and some of his USA men’s teammates took in the contest. There were swimming stars there, too.

Ting Wins in the Ring
In the boxing ring, China’s Lin Yu Ting won by unanimous decision. She will fight for gold. Ting is one of the two fighters at the center of the gender discussion/debate/controversy.

American Katie Moon earns a silver medal in the pole vault. It is her second Olympic medal in the event.
