Williams Adds Carlos Sainz to the Driving Team
Carlos Sainz Joins Williams Racing for 2025 and Beyond

F1 news of the driver kind as Carlos Sainz is making the move off the track to Williams Racing. The announcement came on Monday: Williams adds Carlos Sainz for 2025, 2026, and beyond.
Sainz, who has won three F1 races, weighed in with a statement of his own after the decision, which means American Logan Sargeant will no longer be the teammate of Alex Albon after this season. Williams said it would try and find a place for Sargeant to continue his career.
“I am very happy to announce that I will be joining Williams Racing from 2025 onwards” Sainz said. “It is no secret that this year’s driver market has been exceptionally complex for various reasons and that it has taken me some time to announce my decision.”
“I am confident Williams is the right place to continue my F1 journey. I am proud to join such a historic and successful team. Many of my childhood heroes drove for Williams and made their mark on our sport.”
“The ultimate goal of bringing Williams back to where it belongs, at the front of the grid, is a challenge that I embrace with excitement and positivity.”

Sainz Secures Best Seat Amid F1 Driver Market Shake-Up
Sainz’s driving future was uncertain after Hamilton signed with Ferrari to race with Leclerc next year. This left Sainz needing to market himself and find the best available seat in F1. In some ways, this move is a Williams-Ferrari swap.
Williams adds Carlos Sainz to their lineup, which will have an impact on the F1 championship standings in 2025. This means sports betting odds for individual races, championships, and team success will likely fluctuate.
Williams boss James Vowles believes Sainz and Albon will comprise a strong driving duo.
“Sainz joining Williams is a strong statement of intent from both parties” he said. “Carlos has demonstrated time and again that he is one of the most talented drivers on the grid, with race-winning pedigree, and this underlines the upwards trajectory we are on. Carlos brings not just experience and performance, but also a fierce drive to extract every millisecond out of the team and car; the fit is perfect.”
“In Alex and Carlos we will have one of the most formidable driver line-ups on the grid and with huge experience to guide us into the new regulations in 2026. Williams adds Carlos Sainz to strengthen our team and our chances of success.”
Sainz Chooses Williams Over Audi Despite Uncertainty
Carlos had said as recently as July 25 that he was unsure of his decision. He had an offer from Audi but the Williams multi-year deal was more to his liking.
“My best option for next year would be a championship-winning car, which has been my number one priority since these talks about my future have happened” Sainz said. “And the likelihood of that, we all know that is small, but that’s always been my target. And if that doesn’t happen, I’ll choose what’s best for my near future, for sure.”
Very happy to announce I’ll be joining @WilliamsRacing next season! Excited about the project and the challenges ahead of us! 💪🏻
