Liverpool Team Stats & History

Liverpool FC were founded in 1892 amid a disagreement between the Everton board and president John Houlding. They joined the Football League the following year, and started out in the Second Division.

In their first season in the top flight, Liverpool were relegated, but returned and won their first league title in 1901. The Reds reached their first FA Cup final in 1914, but lost to Burnley. Liverpool won their first back-to-back league titles in 1922 and 1923.

After a 24-year title drought, Liverpool won the league again in 1947. However, they were relegated in 1953-54 and suffered an embarrassing loss in the 1959 FA Cup to non-league Worcester City.

Under new manager Bill Shankly, Liverpool returned to Division One and won it in 1964. In 1965, the Reds won their first FA Cup, and the league one year later.

The next manager, Bob Paisley, leads many Liverpool team stats for managers, including trophies. In nine seasons, from 1974-1983, Paisley won 20 trophies. That includes three European Cups, a UEFA Cup, six League titles, and three consecutive League Cups.

Liverpool FC Team Records

Liverpool completed a league, European Cup and League Cup treble in 1984, becoming the first English team to win three trophies in a season. Kenny Dalglish made his mark on the Liverpool team stats, both as a player and as a manager. Dalglish was appointed player manager in 1985, and won three league titles and two FA Cups until he resigned in 1991.

Following his resignation, Graeme Souness led Liverpool to a 1992 FA Cup win, but they failed to win another trophy for the remainder of the 90s. Despite not winning a Premier League title in the 2000’s, Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005 and mounted a three goal comeback vs. AC Milan in the final.

Liverpool won the Champions League again in 2019 under Jurgen Klopp and Klopp’s reign. which has been highly successful. Since 2019, Liverpool have won their first Premier League title, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Liverpool have won every major trophy since 2019 which makes their EPL odds popular for betting. They’ve finished in the top two in three of their last four Premier League seasons. With +200 odds to win the title in 2022-23, taking them to win it all wouldn’t be bad betting advice.
