All-Stars vs All-Stars Highlights
In the world of Major League Baseball All-Star Games, it’s all been fun but also games.
Since the very first game in 1933, there have been a total of 92 epic showdowns. Following are some exhilarating stats and thrilling moments from this incredible series.
The American League (AL) takes the lead in the overall series with a record of 47 wins, 43 losses, and 2 ties, giving them a solid .522 winning percentage. They have also managed to score 381 runs, while their opponents from the National League (NL) have scored 374 runs. Talk about an edge!
The NL, on the other hand, had an incredible winning streak of 11 games between 1972 and 1982. But the AL had their time to shine too. They enjoyed an unbeaten streak of 13 games from 1997 to 2009, including a tied MLB matchup game in 2002.
MLB AL vs NL Historical Standings
Now, let’s take a trip down memory lane. From 1933 to 1949, the AL dominated the MLB All Stars matchup, triumphing in 12 out of the first 16 games. However, the tides turned, and from 1950 to 1987, the NL took control. During this impressive stretch, they won a staggering 33 games, lost only 8, and had one tie. From 1963 to 1982, they even won an incredible 19 out of 20 games.
Since 1988, it has been the AL’s time to shine once again. They have dominated the field, winning 27 games, losing only 6, and tying one.
A historic moment occurred in 2018 when the AL broke free from a long drought and finally took the lead in the series for the first time since 1963.
The history of the MLB All Stars Matchup games is a riveting tale of fierce competition and remarkable winning streaks that have shaped the sport we love.
