Atlanta Braves Stats & Team History
The Atlanta Braves were initially founded in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings, making it one of the oldest professional sports teams in the United States of America. From 1871 to 1941, the franchise went over a constant name turnover, changing the team’s name seven times before settling on the Boston Braves in 1941. In 1952 the Braves relocated to Milwaukee before finally moving to Atlanta in 1966. The Braves team stats were constrained enough to win four World Series throughout their history, three coming in different cities. They recently won the 2021 World Series, despite one of their star players -Ronald Acuna Jr.- missing most of the second half of the season.
From 1991 to 2005 was the prime of the Braves, since they were constantly one of the best teams in baseball. The Atlanta Braves team stats during that 14-year run was incredible, since they made the playoffs every year but a shortened lockout season. They also made it to five World Series, but came away as champions only once. A three-headed pitching monster headlined them in Greg Maddux, John Smoltz, and Tom Glavine.
