New York Yankees Stats & History
The New York Yankees were founded in 1901 as the Baltimore Orioles but without relation to the current Baltimore Orioles. They spent two seasons in Baltimore, then moved up to New York City to become the New York Highlanders from 1903 to 1912. They were re-named the Yankees in 1913.
The Yankees are arguably the greatest franchise in American sports, with 27 World Series titles; these are the most titles by any top-four American sports league.
