Oakland Athletics Stats & Team History
Established in 1901, the Oakland Athletics were originally called the Philadelphia Athletics, when they joined the MLB in 1901 as one of the founding teams. They went to eight World Series while in Philadelphia, winning five of them, going back-to-back two separate times. From 1901 to 1950, Connie Mack was the team manager every season. In 1955 the team moved to Kansas City, keeping the same name but never making the playoffs. The team officially relocated to Oakland in 1968 and has been there since. In Oakland, the Athletics team stats went back to their previous winning ways, winning four out of six World Series and winning three in a row from 1972 to 1974. They had another successful stretch in the following decade, appearing in three from 1988 to 1990, but only winning one.
The Oakland Athletics team’s stats are filled with Hall of Famers due to the many years they have spent winning. The Athletics are tied third for the most World Series in the MLB.
