Philadelphia Phillies Stats & Team History
The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the oldest teams in the MLB -established in 1883- and one of the longest single-name franchises in United States sports history. They did originate as the Quakers but quickly changed the name and, from 1884 to 1889, went by both names. The team went by two names again from 1944 to 1949, going as both the Blue Jays and the Phillies. It took a long time for the Phillies to win a World Series, waiting 97 years before the team finally won in 1980. Before that, the Phillies team stats show they only had two playoff runs, both ending in a World Series loss.
From 1976 to 1983 and 2007 to 2011, the Philadelphia Phillies team stats had some of its best seasons. The Phillies made it to four World Series in those time frames, winning two.
