Colorado State Rams – NCAAF History
The Colorado State Rams are a Division I FBS football team based in Fort Collins, Colorado. Initially founded in 1892 as Colorado Agricultural College, the Rams have an overall record of 532–601–33. The program earned quick stability thanks in part to Head Coach Harry Hughes, who was known by sportswriters as the “Dean of American Football Coaches.” During his three decades of leadership, he helped the Rams win eight conference titles.
After a long stretch of dreadful seasons for most of the 20th century, Colorado State started to flourish once again when Sonny Lubick coached the program and led them to a Western Athletic Conference championship in his first season in 1993. The Rams would win two more conference titles in 2000 and 2002, as a member of the Mountain West Conference. Colorado State has made 17 bowl game appearances, with an overall record of 5-11.
