Team History

The University of Nevada-Reno Wolf Pack are a Division 1 FBS Football team based in Reno, Nevada. Initially founded in 1896, Nevada has an overall record of 575–504–33. As the first college in the state, the football program became steady and competitive in the 1930s, winning three conference titles in the now defunct Far Western Conference. After some mediocre teams during the 1950s and 60s, the program would change forever when Chris Ault left rival UNLV to become the head coach of the Wolf Pack in 1976.

Ault coached the program for parts of 28 years, and worked with the program in some capacity for four decades, winning 11 conference titles including a run of championships from 1990 to 1997. Nevada team stats have reached a total of 19 bowl games in program history, with the team reaching a bowl in 14 of the last 17 seasons.
