Aussie Favored with Moloney vs Astrolabio Odds: Class with Moloney
WBO World Bantamweight Title Fight

Moloney vs Astrolabio odds have Australian fighter Jason Moloney favored at -140, but there isn’t much between them. Boxing betting odds have Vincent Astrolabio at +110, so he’s the underdog but not by much. The vacant WBO World Bantamweight title is up for grabs in Stockton, which is the undercard for Alimkhanuly vs Butler.
Class with Moloney
Moloney is 25-2, so he has a handy record, but it’s his most recent loss which stacks up nicely with form guides.
The 32-year-old lost to Naoya Inoue in Las Vegas for the IBF and WBA titles, and although he got knocked out in the seventh round, it was a credible performance.
There has been talk of Astrolabio being the next Manny Pacquiao, and according to the latest boxing news, that made Moloney chuckle.
“There will only ever be one Manny Pacquiao,” Moloney said. “And I’m not getting into the ring with him.
“Of course, Astrolabio will have drawn inspiration from Manny. And no doubt he’s also trying to follow in his footsteps. But again, there’s only one Pacquiao.”
Moloney bounced back from the loss with four consecutive wins. He took on Joshua Greer Jr and scored a unanimous decision victory before facing a much easier fighter.
However, he took on Aston Palicte in Melbourne. Palicte was considered to be a much harder opponent, but Moloney sent him packing in the third round with a knockout.
Moloney vs Astrolabio odds are respecting that performance, and his odds could firm even shorter on fight night. He’s the more attractive wager, and Australian boxing is riding the wave of momentum.
Astrolabio Has Upset Claims
Just like he did when beating Guillermo Rigondeaux, Astrolabio could cause an upset on Saturday.
The 26-year-old wasn’t expected to test Rigondeaux, who was 20-2, and looking like one of the best in the bantamweight division. However, the Filipino measured up and won by the narrowest of margins.
He followed it up with a win over Nikolai Potapov in Las Vegas. He scored a sixth-round knockout after dominating the fight early, so he has made serious claims to beat Moloney in Stockton.
“Since I started boxing, my dream has been to fight for a world title, and dreams come true with hard work,” Astrolabio says.
“I have thought about this moment over and over again, and I will not be denied the world title.
“I want to thank my promoter Manny Pacquiao and Sean Gibbons for giving me this WBO bantamweight world title shot.”
Moloney vs Astrolabio odds have him as the underdog at +110, but that could be seen as a value price. He looks to have a bright future, and scoring wins over Rigondeaux goes a long way to paving a successful career.
If this fight was in the Philippines, he would be the -150 favorite. It’s on neutral ground, so that’s why bookmakers have Moloney favored to win.
However, it should be a close fight and it will likely come down to the judges’ scorecards.
