Parker Facing Toughest Test
Parker has been impressive with 16 knockout wins from 22 fights, but this is his first five-star fight and there is pressure to perform.
The British fighter knocked out Marcus Morrison last year and he’s now being offered a chance to win the interim title.
He has beaten the likes of Sherzod Khusanov and Rohan Murdock, but this is another level of opposition. However, Parker vs Ryder odds are confident in a Parker win.
Parker is the much bigger fighter and he believes that gives him the edge.
“It is going to be a good fight. At least he’s got the balls to come and fight me, unlike Andrade. He always brings it, so if we both do that and meet in the middle, it will be one for the fans,” Parker said.
“It should be a good fight, but I reckon I will get a stoppage over Ryder. I think he is just a bit too small for super middleweight. He has boxed some but they have taken him lightly, thinking they are gonna beat him easily.”
Boxing lines are confident and it looks well-placed. He is a rising star in the British boxing ranks and he could kick off his 2022 campaign with a bang.
Ryder Battle Hardened
Despite having five losses on his record and Parker vs Ryder odds against him, Ryder can’t be ignored.
The 34-year-old scored a split decision win against Daniel Jacobs in February, and he believes with a win against Parker, he deserves a chance at fighting Canelo Alvarez.
“I think it makes perfect sense, really,” Ryder explained. “The winner will be in line for the WBO title, obviously it’s for the interim, and I know [David] Benavidez and [Caleb] Plant are fighting a final eliminator and he [Canelo]’s got options, but I’ve spent two years chasing him [Canelo] around the world, trying to be a backup fighter [if someone drops out], and if I beat Zach Parker next week, I deserve my shot at Canelo and I think I’ve paid my dues.”
He has lofty ambitions and he has been in the ring against some tough fighters, including Callum Smith, Rocky Fielding, and Jacobs.
There is plenty of power in Ryder’s hands and he has the experience edge, so the +200 with Parker vs Ryder odds could be worth taking.
With 31 wins on his record, we’re prepared to look past his five defeats. He has upset potential and he’s good enough to hand Parker his first professional loss if he’s anywhere his best.
