All Four Belts and a Big Rematch On the Line

Marshall Favored to Take Crews-Dezurn’s Titles

Following her first professional defeat, Savannah Marshall moves up to super middleweight to challenge Franchon Crews-Dezurn for all four of her belts. As such, the Crews-Dezurn vs Marshall betting odds favor her at around -400 to become the new undisputed champion. Not only that, but the winner could be in line to rematch Claressa Shields in what could be a blockbuster event between two undisputed champions.

Marshall Gifted Another Golden Opportunity

It says a lot about where Marshall is that she can get offered a chance to become an undisputed champion despite getting schooled by Shields. To Marshall’s defense, Shields is the pound-for-pound best female boxer on the planet. But after getting beaten in her own turf, Marshall is undeterred is hunting for the rematch.

“I’ve seen how my profile grew just from that one fight and I believe that it was down to the rivalry massively,” Marshall told Sky Sports. “Even now, all people are saying is: ‘When’s the rematch? When’s the rematch?’ That’s what boxing’s about. It’s a business. If you haven’t got a rival, it’s not that you’re going to struggle. But that’s where it happens.”

As such, moving up to win all the belts at super middleweight could be just a means to an end for Marshall. If the Crews-Dezurn vs Marshall betting odds are accurate, she will, in essence, follow Shields’s footsteps by becoming a champion in the division. But to Marshall’s bragging rights, she is the undisputed champ.

But Crews-Dezurn is as lively of an underdog as you can find. This is a woman that has been undefeated since losing her debut fight to Shields. She took out Elin Cederroos to prove she’s the top dog of the 168-pound division. And like Marshall, she has a strong claim to rematching Shields.

So this is not just an opportunity for Marshall. It could also be her ultimatum. A loss to Crews-Dezurn will knock her stock back and she could return to being irrelevant. After all, fighters at these women’s divisions are hardly noticed outside of the dominant champion.

Crews-Dezurn Will be Last One Singing

Speaking of underdogs and opportunities, the undisputed champion (+300) looks to turn the Crews-Dezurn vs Marshall betting odds on their head this Saturday. Even at 36, Crews-Dezurn is wily enough to give her younger peer a run for her money. But she can’t overlook Marshall as she sets her sights on a rematch with Shields.

“Savannah’s a pit stop for me,” Crews-Dezurn told Marshall to her face on Sky Sports’ The Gloves are Off. “Respectfully, disrespectfully. My mission is so much bigger. And if I got to walk through you, walk through hell, the UK fans, to make my heaven, it’s going to happen.”

Indeed, it would be a mistake to look past Marshall and her 83.33% knockout-to-win ratio. While Crews-Dezurn has a thing for the dramatic, Marshall is reserved. But Crews-Dezurn’s braggadocio style adds to her fighting prowess as she’s done nothing but back up her big words.

The boxing schedule’s upcoming “money fight” is dependent on Marshall beating her. But despite boxing and its conspicuous judging blunders, Crews-Dezurn has both the power and speed to outlast Marshall. She can also look to Marshall’s last fight and see that her opponent can break when pressured right.

Crews-Dezurn’s boxing matches may not have the same level of difficulty as Marshall. But this doesn’t mean the “Heavy-Hitting Diva” can’t whip up a spontaneous hit and captivate everyone.
