Knockout-Happy Morrell Big Fav to Beat Kalajdzic for WBA Title

Morrell vs Kalajdzic Boxing Odds

David Morell is an extremely short favorite to win the vacant WBA light heavyweight title against Radivoje Kalajdzic on Saturday.

Morrell vs Kalajdzic boxing odds have Morrell at -5000 to win and win his second belt, having retained his super middleweight title last year.

Kalajdzic is unwanted in boxing betting markets at +1200 against an unbeaten 10-0 fighter in Morrell.

Morrell on a KO Tear

26-year-old Cuban Morell has scored by KO or TKO in his last seven fights, and nine out of 10 overall.

He’s a knockout machine, which is why Morrell vs Kalajdzic boxing odds have him at such short odds to win the vacant title.

He scored a 12th-round knockout against Aidos Yerbossynuly to win the super middleweight title before winning in the first round against Yamaguchi Falcao.

They were impressive performances, and boxing rankings have him sixth in the division. We see that ranking rising quickly, and he could be close to the top two with a couple more wins.

Bettors get much better odds for Morrell to score a knockout win at -900, and although it’s still a short price, it’s much better than the -5000 moneyline odds.

After cleaning up in the super middleweight division, Morrell sets his sights on bigger things.

“All the champions at super middleweight have looked elsewhere, as none of them wanted to fight me,” Morrell said. “I don’t need to mention any names, but everyone knows who has been ducking me. So now I take my talents to the light heavyweight division, where I believe I will shine even more.”

His schedule of boxing is about to ramp up, but we can’t see Kalajdzic posing much of a test. He has the clear class advantage over his opponent, despite having less experience with only 10 fights compared to 31 for Kalajdzic.

Kalajdzic Relying on His Own Power

We have talked about the power of Morrell, but with 21 knockouts on his record, Kalajdzic is a strong opponent.

However, his greatest strength could be his biggest downfall. If he lets his guard down and goes for a knockout, he could leave the door open for Morrell to land the final blow.

He needs to fight smart, and he’s a top 10-ranked fighter, so he has earned the chance to get this fight.

Morrell vs Kalajdzic boxing odds give him no chance of winning, and it’s one of the more one-sided betting markets we have seen, but he can’t be completely overlooked.

He comes off a four fight KO streak, including beating Sullivan Barrera in the final round of his most recent fight.

Legendary trainer Teddy Atlas predicts a grim future for Kalajdzic against Morrell.

“I take Morrell by knockout, and I would say within four rounds. By the way, Kalajdzic has been stopped one time by a great fighter. A fighter named Beterbiev,” Atlas said.

It takes good fighters to beat Kalajdzic by knockout, but as the odds suggest, Morrell could be closing in on that level.

The American, born in Serbia, knows the challenge in front of him, but he’s a puncher’s chance based on his knockout record.

A Quick Title Fight Expected

The current round total is 4.5, and the under has been backed into -130.

Morrell is the strong favorite to win, and there is better value with Morrell to win by KO at -900.

Based on the total rounds line, the sportsbook believes it will be a quick victory for the favorite and it’s hard to disagree.

He’s a rampaging Cuban, who could put Cuban boxers back on the map, and he should score an early knockout.

Winning before the fifth round could be difficult, so we’re opting against taking the total rounds odds and sticking with Morrell to end the fight with a knockout.
