Lopez Tipped to Retain Featherweight Belt

Lopez vs Abe Odds

The featherweight boxing division is in good hands with Luis Alberto Lopez and Reiya Abe.

Lopez vs Abe odds have the IBF Featherweight champion at -900 to win, so most of the money has come for the Mexican fighter.

The 12-round title fight headlines the card in New York.

Lopez to Exert Class

Boasting a 29-2 record, Lopez isn’t a fighter to be messed with.

His boxer stats have read well since losing a fight in 2019, and he has been extremely busy since then, fighting an incredible 13 times in five years.

That’s a busy schedule in modern standards, and he comes off a unanimous decision victory over Joet Gonzalez, which was a terrific victory.

The 30-year-old Mexican owns 16 wins by knockout, and we expect money to come for him via knockout. The -900 Lopez vs Abe odds could be too short for some, but he’s paying a value price to win by knockout.

One of his best wins came by TKO against Michael Conlan in 2023. Conlan was an 18-1 fighter and considered one of the rising stars, so to beat him in five rounds is credit to his quality.

That followed a win over Britain’s Josh Warrington, so he hasn’t been dodging the best fighters in the featherweight division.

Abe isn’t at that level, hence the boxing betting odds.

Abe Looking for Points Win

Japanese boxer Abe isn’t looking to win by knockout. He’s looking to win by points decision, so he could be worth a value bet at +550.

The 30-year-old can bob and weave with the best of them, which has allowed him to win six consecutive fights by decision.

He’s the top-ranked Japanese fighter in this division and number five in the world. Therefore, he deserves his chance at fighting for the IBF title.

Abe was last seen in April 2023, where he defeated Kiko Martinez. Beating a 44-11-2 fighter isn’t something to ignore, and Martinez has been at the top of his game for many years.

He won that fight with ease, scoring counts of 117-111, 119-109, and 119-109. That shows he’s good enough to win rounds, and although lacking knockout power, it’s not always needed to win fights.

Japanese boxing is surging, and Lopez vs Abe odds have him at a value price. However, beating Lopez is easier said than done.

Lopez has much more power at his disposal, and that could worry Abe when he enters into the danger zone.

Champion to Retain Belt

We give Abe plenty of respect, but Lopez should be far too good for the challenger.

Lopez is the champion for a reason, and we have loved his willingness to fight anyone and everyone. Abe isn’t at the top of the list of terms of quality opponents, so he should win at short odds.

Getting -900 isn’t a bad price, and he’s worth including in boxing parlays. The sportsbook could have priced Lopez around -1200, and money could come for him late.

The rounds line is 10.5, so it’s expected to go the distance. Over is a -185 chance, but even though Abe is great at winning by decision, Lopez loves a knockout.

We think the fight could go under 10.5 rounds, which pays a healthy +155.
