Ramirez vs Dogboe Odds Preview: Top Contenders Look to Take Next Step

Two Great Fighters, One Winner

Odds Favor Ramirez to Outlast Dogboe

Robeisy Ramirez and Isaac Dogboe clash for the vacant WBO featherweight belt in a fight that should be getting more publicity. These are the two best contenders in the division and even if the Ramirez vs Dogboe odds favor the former (-600), a win for Dogboe would not be the most shocking result. Either way, both Ramirez and Dogboe are world-class fighters who want to get out of the shadows of the likes of Shakur Stevenson and Emanuel Navarrete.

Ramirez Hungry to Translate Amateur Success to Professional Gold

Ramirez may be the boogeyman of the featherweight division. And he’s coming! The Cuban may only have 11 professional wins with a loss, but he’s got the most decorated amateur resume of any contender.

He is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and has also won the Pan American Games and Youth Olympic Games. In 2016, he defeated both Murodjon Akhmadaliev and Shakur Stevenson in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

But Ramirez’s pro career, which started in 2019, began with a bump: He lost right away. He avenged this and is now on a rampage through the division with KO wins over Abraham Nova and Eric Donovan. Now, Ramirez vs Dogboe is the toughest test of his professional career.

“Main event. World championship on the line. This is what I have always wanted and have asked for since I became a professional boxer,” Ramirez told Fight Mag Australia. “I see this fight as the perfect stage from which to present my credentials to the world and make the case that I am the best fighter in the featherweight division.”

Most fans may still not know him. But the boxing odds favor him over the former champion for a reason. He is not only crisp and technical, but powerful and hungry. He’s the type of boxer that boxing stars avoid as he can beat anyone. But to start landing the big fights, Ramirez will have to beat Dogboe and join the ranks of 126-pound champions.

Dogboe Still Has Title Run Left in Him

For Dogboe, the narrative shifts from breaking out to rebounding. His two losses to Navarrete overshadow his achievements. But with Navarrete now being the champion up a few weight classes, another title victory for Dogboe reestablishes him as one of the guys in the division.

Dogboe just edged Joet Gonzalez in a 10-round war last summer. The Ghanaian won despite most boxing betting tips picking against him as a 2-1 underdog.

“My journey could be a Hollywood blockbuster movie,” Dogboe said following the win. “It doesn’t matter what fight you’re in. Regardless of wherever there is darkness, keep on going through it. Because at the end of the day you will surely see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

It was an inspirational moment for him and all those backing him. Had he lost, he may have been permanently etched as a gatekeeper of the division. But at 28, Dogboe has a wealth of opportunity ahead of him. He already has experience triumphing as an underdog so he won’t be deterred that the boxing lines have him listed at +400.

Facing Ramirez is Dogboe’s biggest bout since Navarrete. In some ways, it could be tougher. While Ramirez is not as big as Navarrete, he can hit just as hard and is arguably even more polished. Dogboe will have little room for error as he looks to take the fight to his Cuban counterpart.

But with plenty of positive energy on his side, Dogboe will put up a fight. The Ramirez vs Dogboe odds expect a drawn-out war with the total set at 10.5 rounds and the ‘over’ being juiced (-155). Dogboe owns more TKO victories than Ramirez has professional wins. So can the Ghanaian shock the world?
