Taylor vs Cameron Betting Odds Preview: Two Girls, One Ring, One Belt

Old Fashioned Welterweight Bar Fight for All the Marbles

Taylor Favored Slightly by Latest Boxing Odds

Undefeated and undisputed champions clash in Dublin this Saturday as Katie Taylor challenges Chantelle Cameron for all of her light welterweight belts. These stars have combined to win all 39 of their matches and have wins over the who’s who of boxing. The Taylor vs Cameron betting odds lean slightly towards the former though Cameron could just be Taylor’s foil. This could be the start of an all-time great rivalry.

Location: 3Arena, Dublin, Ireland
Title: WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and IBO World Light Welterweight (140 lbs)

Taylor Set to Make More History?

If she retired now, Taylor would go down as the best boxer of her era. But this won’t stop her from pushing the possibilities of her career as she aims to become a two-division undisputed champion. And she’s doing it in front of her home fans. This is Taylor’s first fight in Ireland and it will be quite raucous in Dublin.

“This is absolutely huge for me,” Taylor told ESPN. “This is what I wanted all along really. We’re bringing big-time boxing back to Ireland for the first time in a long time.”

But it will be her toughest fight as she takes on the surging Cameron who is coming off her biggest victory. The Taylor vs Cameron betting odds still side with Katie Taylor as the home turf advantage could be enough to sway the judges to award her the victory if the fight is close – and it should be.

Taylor has fought at the 140-pound division just once in her career. She edged Christina Linardatou to capture the WBO light welterweight title, which she then relinquished as she returned to lightweight to defend her belts.

As a natural lightweight, Taylor will be the smaller boxer against Cameron. She stands 5’5” with a 66-inch reach while the Briton is 5’8” with 69 inches. This won’t be Taylor’s first time fighting a bigger opponent. She defeated Natasha Jonas in 2021 and Delfine Persoon in 2020 both of who were slightly larger.

It would take more than a size disadvantage to get Taylor down hence why most Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron predictions still lean toward her.

Cameron Will Seize Torch If She Has To

Coming off a win over Jessica McCaskill, the undisputed welterweight queen, Cameron now has the opportunity to beat another living legend. And she’s once again a slight underdog per the Taylor vs Cameron betting odds.

Cameron opened as a slight dog to McCaskill though several bettors quickly steamed her line and she closed as either a pick’em or slight favorite. She soundly defeated McCaskill and now steps in for Amanda Serrano to fight Taylor in her own soil.

“If it wasn’t for Katie, I wouldn’t be in this position because of what she has done for women’s boxing,” Cameron said. “She has been incredible and she should have had her homecoming fight long before this because she deserves it.”

But despite her diplomatic demeanor towards her opponent, Cameron knows she’ll need to take the fight to Taylor the same way Serrano did. Cameron will not defeat Taylor by simply out-boxing her – that’s something no one has done. The 32-year-old also has youth on her side and a bit of momentum.

However, as many Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron previews have indicated, she’s still a bit lacking in “big fight” experience. Her bout with McCaskill in Abu Dhabi was her first taste of a fight of that magnitude whereas this is just “business as usual” for Taylor.

This could, of course, work to Cameron’s advantage. The pressure may be on Taylor who is fighting in Ireland after years of anticipation. Cameron is the betting underdog despite being the champion. And a loss to Taylor would not be the end of the world for her. But should she become the first to defeat Taylor, it will not only catapult her name to the top of boxing news but also set up a potential rivalry that will push women’s boxing further.
