Unbeaten Fighters Clash in Battle of the Brits
Dan Azeez vs Joshua Buatsi Odds
With a combined 37-0 record, Dan Azeez and Joshua Buatsi put their unbeaten records on the line at Wembley Arena on Saturday.
The latest Dan Azeez vs Joshua Buatsi odds have Buatsi at -400 to improve to 18-0 and win the BBB of C British Light Heavyweight and Commonwealth Boxing Light Heavyweight titles.
Boxing odds have Azeez at +300, so he’s a big outsider to win the premier boxing fight.
Dan Azeez vs Joshua Buatsi
Location: OVO Arena in Wembley, London
Day/Time:
Azeez Ranked Higher
Despite being the large underdog on the boxing schedule, Azeez is ranked higher in the division than Buatsi.
The 34-year-old is a perfect 20-0 following a points decision victory over a 10-11-4 fighter. We’re not sure why he took such an easy fight, but it could have been to avoid ring rust.
His previous wins over Thomas Faure and Rocky Fielding were better results for his title credentials, including a TKO win over 30-2 Fielding.
That fight put him on the map and earned him the current titles, but as Dan Azeez vs Joshua Buatsi odds suggest, he might have met his match.
Ranked second in Britain and fifth in the world, Azeez could prove his ranking correct and score an upset.
“These are the kinds of nights I dreamt about. I didn’t turn pro thinking I want to make loads of money. I wanted to write a legacy. I want to achieve something. I wanted to prove to myself,” Azeez said.
It’s hard to know how good Azeez is given his recent victories. Even in his fight against Fielding, he didn’t look overly impressive. Fielding also missed weight and was cut above his eye before his corner threw in the towel.
When betting on boxing fights, it pays to follow the money, and there’s none for Azeez.
Buatsi Rising the Ranks
The 30-year-old is one of the more promising fighters in the UK, and he could win his first title.
He arguably has the much better wins on his record, including recent victories over Pawel Stepien, Craig Richards, and Ricards Bolotniks.
Stepien was an 18-0-1 fighter, so to win comfortably by unanimous decision was a good effort. He won 100-90 on one judges’ scorecard, which was easier than the 97-94 on Mark Lyson’s scorecard.
However, to the naked eye, it looked like he won with ease, and now he fights for two titles.
Despite being ranked lower than Azeez, most of the early betting support has come for the Ghana-born fighter.
Dan Azeez vs Joshua Buatsi odds have him at short odds to remain unbeaten, and he looks to have the brighter future.
More money is being pumped into his future than Azeez, being the younger fighter, and that bodes well.
Buatsi By Decision
We fancy Buatsi to win by decision, which pays -135 at the sportsbook.
He’s the more enterprising fighter, and although it can be tough to predict the outcome with unbeaten fighters, Buatsi is the busier fighter in the ring.
He knows how to win rounds without needing to knock out his opponent, so we expect the fight to go the distance.
Going over 10.5 rounds pays -300, so there is better value in backing Buatsi to leave it in the hands of the judges.
