It’s tough to be in celebration mode coming off a loss, so we have no doubt Taylor will be fully focused.
Boxing betting markets have him at +110, and we can’t understand why. He might not be the most liked boxer in the industry, but his title win over Jose Carlos Ramirez showed his class.
He sent Ramirez to the canvas twice, and with 13 wins by knockout from 20 fights, his power can’t be understated.
He might be suspended by the New York Athletic Commission for not taking his mandatory fight, which didn’t add to his popularity, but we fancy his odds.
Taylor vs Catterall odds aren’t giving him enough respect, and bettors could cash in.
Catterall to Make Amends?
Catterall has looked good since losing 113-112, 111-114, 112-113 to Taylor in their first fight, so that bodes well.
The boxing odds favorite defeated Darragh Foley before handling Jorge Linares with ease in October. That was a solid win against an experienced opponent, and he believes he’s a better fighter now.
“I think we’ve had two years since the fight where I’ve matured in and out of the ring,” said Catterall. “I’ve been doing a lot of developing and I think it’s my time now to prove that I do belong in these big fights. Once I beat Josh I’ll go on and win a world title.
“He’s not my type of person. I don’t think we would go out for a coffee or a beer. I just don’t like him. I can’t wait to stop talking about him. I want to beat him in every way possible.”
Those are fighting words for the favorite, who is shorter than we expected at -140. We thought they would be on even ground at the sportsbook, but bettors are rallying around the 28-1 fighter.
It comes down to attitude, and Catterall appears to have a good mindset for the fight at First Direct Arena.
He is confident of making amends for his only career loss, and it could pay to watch Taylor vs Catterall odds for any moves.
