YouTuber-Turned Boxer Jake Paul Tipped to Beat Perry
Public Betting the Paul vs Perry Boxing Odds One Way
Jake Paul is a polarizing figure in entertainment, and his next boxing fight comes against Mike Perry at Amalie Arena on Saturday. The Paul vs Perry boxing odds have Paul at -425 to win after opening at -375, and it was only a matter of time before money came for him.
Say what you want about the YouTuber/Disney star/boxer, he’s not a bad fighter, and Perry could be in for a bad night in Florida.
Better Call Paul
If you’re a semi-retired MMA star in need of some money, call Paul. The 9-1 boxer has an affinity with facing old MMA fighters and boxers, and the only time he fought a “real” boxer resulted in a loss: Tommy Fury.
The 27-year-old American was preparing his boxing schedule for Mike Tyson, which would have been a farce. At least fighting Perry makes the contest somewhat competitive. More notably, they’re allowed to knock each other out.
Paul has notable wins over Nate Diaz and pro boxer Ryan Bourland, but in terms of professional boxing, it’s average form. However, when you’re facing Perry, who was knocked out in his only boxing bout in 2015, you don’t need to be that good.
We have always fancied Paul as the best YouTuber boxer. He’s certainly much better than KSI, who he was touted to fight in the early stages of YouTube boxing.
- His progression has been excellent, and he looks the part. Therefore, his boxing betting odds of -425 are too good to pass up.
“They didn’t see behind the scenes how much I truly, truly need and want and love this sport,” Paul said.
“The sky is the limit when you don’t put any barriers or boundaries on what you can accomplish. I want to test myself and get under the bright lights.”
- Money should continue to come for the favorite with Paul vs Perry boxing odds, and even the -400 line is a value quote at the sportsbook.

We Can’t Take Perry Seriously
We have mad respect for Perry in the MMA world, but in no universe is he a good boxer. He was knocked out clean by 6-1 fighter Kenneth McNeil in 2015, and although a lot of water has gone under the bridge since, he’s not prepared for a boxing fight.
There is no way we can bet him with our boxing picks based on what we’ve seen. He’s not a technically sound boxer, especially compared to Paul, who has good technique for someone who hasn’t grown up in the sport.
Perry, on the other hand, fights like an MMA fighter. He throws wildly and often, but Paul is too smart to get in close in the opening stages.
Unlike the Diaz vs Masvidal fight last week, which was a slugfest, this fight includes one boxer. Perry will come out aggressive, but the size of Paul’s frame could worry the former UFC star.
- The +300 underdog isn’t getting much support for Paul vs Perry boxing odds, and we can’t see those odds firming closer to fight time.
- His +300 odds could move to around +350, as we expect more money to come for the favorite.
“I’m going to hit him and he’s not going to like it. Im going to chase him around the ring, I’m going to make him tired and keep that pressure on him. In training it’s not about what he does; I don’t watch tape, I really don’t,” Perry said.
We believe him, and it’s a bad way to go about things. Not watching tape for a boxing fight is a surefire way to lose, and that’s likely to be Perry’s fate.
Easy Money with Paul
We are supremely confident in Paul winning this fight, so we’re including him in our boxing picks and parlays.
Though highly unlikeable, he has created a new realm of boxing fans, which isn’t a bad thing.
We would love to see him fight an actual decorated boxer, but that’s never going to happen. Fighting aging MMA stars is a recipe for success, and Perry is next on the list.
- We can’t see Perry doing much in this fight. He will feel the power of Paul, and although it might not end in a knockout, taking the -425 with Paul is easy money
