Bundesliga Matchday 11 Odds: Preview, Breakdown, Best Bets
Union Berlin Four Points Clear
Bundesliga Looking Unusually Competitive
Incredibly, Union Berlin have gone four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table. We’re not even a third of the way through the season but it’s certainly a fascinating development. This is shaping up to be one of the most competitive Bundesliga seasons in recent memory. Ten-time defending champions Bayern Munich haven’t been at their best but they smashed Freiburg last weekend. We’ll take a look at Union and Bayern’s Bundesliga Matchday 11 odds, among others.
Games of the Week:
Bayern Munich humbled SC Freiburg on Sunday but it’s something that happens to most teams sooner or later. Freiburg, who were on an 11-match unbeaten run, fell 5-0 in Bavaria. They’re still in third place in the Bundesliga and a perfect 4-0 in the Europa League. Now, they’ll take on a high-scoring Werder Bremen side on Saturday.
Only two teams have scored more goals than Werder this season but they did lose to Mainz 2-0 on Saturday. Freiburg come into the match with slightly better than even odds to win, at -105. Werder, who have the league’s current top scorer in Niclas Fullkrug, are +290 underdogs. Soccer spread betting odds favor Werder (+½) at -115 odds and they’ve covered in three of their last four matches.
This season, Freiburg are 4-0 in all competitions in the match immediately following a loss or draw. Apart from Sunday’s drubbing, they’ve had one of the best defenses in the league. Freiburg have kept clean sheets in five of their ten Bundesliga matches. However, both teams have scored in seven of Werder’s ten games so far. Over 2½ is priced at -140 odds as goals are expected.
Hoffenheim vs Bayern Munich:
Both Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich got big shutout wins last weekend. They’ll meet on Saturday with both sides currently in the top four. Bayern need to begin to close the four-point gap on Union Berlin and the Bavarians are -190 favorites for Saturday’s match. Five different players got on the scoresheet for Bayern as they demolished SC Freiburg on Sunday. They’re averaging four goals per game in their last four matches in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim are only two points behind Bayern and drew with them 1-1 at home last season. First choice center back Kevin Vogt is suspended for this match, though. Forward Andrej Kramaric will also be working to return from an ankle injury in time for the match. With a handful of potential absences, the Bundesliga Matchday 11 odds price Hoffenheim as +475 home underdogs.
Notably, Hoffenheim have only lost two of their last six home matches vs Bayern. Still, the home side shows just +105 odds to cover the one-goal spread. Plus, Bayern’s Leroy Sane, who’s been in excellent form, is out injured. However, Thomas Muller should be back in time to send Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting back to the bench. Bettors should note that both teams have scored in eight of the last ten meetings.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt:
This is one of the more exciting matches on the Bundesliga schedule this weekend. Borussia Monchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt can both score with the best of them. Both teams have scored five goals in a match in just the last couple of weeks and are on the cusp of the top four. Monchengladbach and Frankfurt are in fifth and sixth place, respectively, and would both love all three points here.
Home side Monchengladbach are +125 favorites in the only pick’em of the weekend. Frankfurt come in at +200 odds, while a draw is priced at +290. Eintracht were unbeaten in this fixture last season, with a win and a draw. However, Monchengladbach show -150 odds to win or draw the match.
Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram scored a double last weekend and is the current second-leading in the Bundesliga. The French international has seven goals so far, while Frankfurt’s Daichi Kamada has six. The two teams have been involved in some very high scoring matches this season. The average number of goals scored in Frankfurt’s matches this season is 3.8, while it’s 3.2 in Monchengladbach matches. Over and under three goals are both listed at -110 odds.
Other Matches to Watch For
Two underachievers face off on Saturday as Bayer Leverkusen take on Wolfsburg. It’s been an awful week for Leverkusen, who lost 3-0 in the Champions League to Porto and fell 5-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga standings. They’re now in the relegation zone and desperately need all three points vs 13th place Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg are unbeaten in their last three matches, though. Still, the Bundesliga Matchday 11 odds price Leverkusen as -150 favorites.
This is a match BVB are expected to win, as they’re -180 favorites.
With three losses in their last five Bundesliga matches, Borussia Dortmund are now in eighth place. Dortmund fell 2-0 to leaders Union Berlin last Sunday and need to regroup vs Stuttgart. This is a match BVB are expected to win, as they’re -180 favorites. Stuttgart only got their first win of the season during Matchday 10 but have avoided defeat on five other occasions.
First place takes on last place as Union Berlin head to VfL Bochum. Bochum’s position isn’t exactly surprising but nearly no one expected Union to top the table. Union Berlin have won four of their last five Bundesliga matches and have been excellent ATS this season. They’re -105 road favorites for Sunday’s match and will stay in first no matter the outcome.
