Bundesliga Matchday 21 Odds: Competitive Bundesliga a Must Watch
Union Berlin and Borussia Dortmund on a Roll

Competitive Bundesliga a Must Watch
The Bundesliga continues to be the most competitive top-five European league this season. Just one point separates ten-time defending champions Bayern Munich from upstart Union Berlin. Third-placed Borussia Dortmund are also just three points behind Bayern. The race for the Champions League is also very much on as just two points separate fourth place and sixth. We’ll take a look at the Bundesliga Matchday 21 odds from another excellent weekend of German soccer. Both Union and Dortmund will put five-game winning streaks on the line.
Matches of the Week
Bayern Munich got an important 1-0 road win at PSG on Tuesday in the Champions League. Kingsley Coman scored the game’s only goal in the first leg and has made the most of his opportunities lately. The second leg is in a couple weeks’ time in Munich. For now, Bayern will turn their attention back to the Bundesliga. They held their one-point lead over Union Berlin by defeating VfL Bochum 3-0 last weekend. The Bavarians are in first place in the Bundesliga standings. They’ll head to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday to try to retain their Bundesliga lead.
Inconsistency has killed Monchengladbach this season. They lost 4-1 to Hertha Berlin on Sunday, who are currently in the relegation playoff spot. Despite some bad losses, Monchengladbach are 6-1-3 at home this season. Regardless, Bayern Munich are 1½-goal favorites entering the match. They come in at even odds to cover, while Monchengladbach show -120 odds to keep the match within a one-goal margin. Incredibly, Gladbach are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Bayern in all competitions. Still, they are +525 moneyline underdogs.
Meanwhile, Bayern display -250 odds to get their first road win at Gladbach since 2019. Bayern Munich are a Bundesliga-best 6-3-1 on the road this season and have lost just one Bundesliga match all season. They have drawn seven of their 20 matches, though, and a draw comes in at +450 odds here. Bayern’s Sadio Mane is still training individually so he most likely won’t be available for this match. Still, Bayern have more than managed without him. Three of Gladbach’s last five matches have finished with five goals and over 3½ goals show -120 odds for Saturday’s clash.
Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig have both slipped up in recent weeks. Since Wolfsburg had a six-game Bundesliga winning streak snapped in late January, they’re 0-1-3 in all competitions. Meanwhile, Leipzig fell to Union Berlin at home last weekend following a draw at Koln. Both teams could certainly use a win here and Leipzig seem to be the more likely of the two sides to come away with three points. Nkunku has returned to training but still presumably out.
RB Leipzig enter Saturday’s match as ½-goal favorites but at longer than even odds to cover and win. They currently show +105 ATS and moneyline odds. They’ve not been a great pick this season on the road for Bundesliga betting, though. Leipzig have just a 3-4-3 record away from home and will most likely still be missing Christopher Nkunku in this one. Although he’s been out since November, he’s only one goal behind Bundesliga leading scorer Niclas Fullkrug. In the six game’s Nkunku has missed, no Leipzig player has scored more than two goals.
Without a consistent goal scorer stepping up for Leipzig, Wolfsburg are favored to cover the spread, at -125 odds. In their last five home matches, Die Wolfe have averaged 3.2 goals per game. They’ve also scored at least twice in every home match since September. Still, they come in at just +235 odds to win the match and -210 odds to score under 1½ goals. A draw displays +270 odds for the match and over 2½ goals sit at -130 odds.
Eintracht Frankfurt went seven matches unbeaten before losing to Koln 3-0 last Sunday. The loss was their first Bundesliga loss since October. In sixth place, just two points outside of a Champions League spot, Frankfurt now host Werder Bremen. Werder have the Bundesliga’s current leading scorer, Niclas Fullkrug, up front and certainly pose an attacking threat. Both Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen have typically played in high-scoring matches this season. Werder matches have averaged 3.5 goals per game while Frankfurt matches aren’t far behind, at 3.45 goals per game.
The reverse fixture produced seven goals as Frankfurt won 4-3 on the road. Even so, under three goals show a -115 price for this match. Eintracht have won six of their 10 home matches this season and are one-goal favorites for Saturday’s match. They come in at even Bundesliga Matchday 21 odds to cover and -165 odds to win the match. Eintracht Frankfurt have won their last three home matches and scored at least three goals in each of them. Randal Kolo Muani has been Frankfurt’s key player this season and continues to lead the league in goal contributions.
Werder Bremen have won just one of their last seven matches vs. Eintracht Frankfurt in all competitions. Still, Werder +1 shows -120 odds and Die Werderaner also come in at +390 odds to win the match. Three of the last six Bundesliga meetings have finished in draws and another sits at +330 odds. Notably, Frankfurt take on Napoli next Tuesday in the Champions League and Oliver Glasner could rest a player or two in preparation. Meanwhile, Werder midfielder Mitchell Weiser is out for Saturday’s game.
Top Four Teams in Action
SC Freiburg rejoined the top four last weekend with a 2-1 win over Stuttgart. Vincenzo Grifo converted two penalties to bring his season goal tally to 11. They head on the road to VfL Bochum on Saturday. Bochum lost 3-0 to Bayern on Matchday 20 and are now just two points outside of the relegation playoff spot. Freiburg enter the match as ½-goal favorites and come in at +125 ATS and moneyline odds. Bochum may be in 15th place but they have the ninth-best home record in the league, at 5-1-3.
Bochum show -145 odds to cover the spread and +210 odds to win the match. Freiburg have won the last three meetings by a combined 6-1 scoreline. Freiburg have a mostly healthy roster, only Daniel Kofi-Kyereh is out. Defender Cristian Gamboa is still working his way back from an injury for Bochum. VfL Bochum have conceded 49 goals in 20 matches, which is the most goals allowed by any team in the Bundesliga this season. Over 2½ goals show -115 odds and a draw displays +250 odds for Saturday’s match.
Union Berlin are on a roll, with six straight wins in all competitions. They’ve scored at least two goals in each of those matches and got a big 2-1 win over RB Leipzig last weekend. Prior to Sunday’s match vs. Schalke 04, they head to Amsterdam on Thursday to take on Ajax in the first leg of the Europa League playoff. Schalke 04 are in last place in the Bundesliga and still winless on the road. Union are one-goal favorites for the match and come in at even Bundesliga Matchday 21 odds to cover the spread. Schalke enter the match at -120 odds to cover the spread but are +525 underdogs on the road.
Schalke have scored just 0.7 goals per game this season and have scored just four goals in nine road matches. However, they do come in at -135 odds to get on the scoresheet in this match. With Union busy in the Europa League, there should be some squad rotation for this match. Even so, they’re -180 favorites, which corresponds to an implied 64.3 percent chance of victory. On their winning streak, four of Union’s last five matches have gone over 2½ goals. However, under 2½ shows -120 odds for this match.
Like Union Berlin, third-placed Borussia Dortmund are also on a five-game winning streak. They have been scoring with ease lately. Dortmund have averaged three goals per game in their last five matches. They’ve also averaged over four goals per game in their last four home matches. That’s bad news for visiting Hertha Berlin, who have conceded 14 goals in their last five games. Hertha are currently in the relegation playoff spot but got a massive 4-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Matchday 20. Forward Jessic Ngankam made the most of his first start of the season and scored Hertha’s first goal.
With Wilfried Kanga and Stevan Jovetic nursing injuries, he could get another opportunity here. Still, Borussia Dortmund are 1½-goal favorites heading into Sunday’s match. Both Dortmund and Hertha show -110 odds to cover the spread. Dortmund are -300 favorites but do take on Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday. Hertha, who haven’t won at the Signal Iduna Park since 2013, come in at +700 odds to win. A draw, which hasn’t occurred in any of the last seven meetings, displays +450 odds. Given how much Dortmund have been scoring and Hertha’s poor defensive record, over three goals show -135 odds for Sunday’s match.
