Bundesliga Matchday 22 Odds: Bayern vs Union, Must-Watch

Massive Title Race Implications This Weekend

Bayern vs Union is a Must-Watch

For some reason, Bayern Munich just can’t seem to defeat Borussia Monchengladbach. Bayern lost 3-2 to Gladbach on Saturday and are now level on points with both Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin. Ten-time defending champions Bayern currently lead the league on goal difference but that could change come Sunday. Bayern host Union Berlin in one of the must-watch matches of the season. The outcome has big implications for the title race. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig vs Eintracht Frankfurt is another important match on this weekend’s schedule. Let’s preview these matches and others as we take a look at the Bundesliga Matchday 22 odds.

Games of the Week

RB Leipzig vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Date & Time:

In one of the best Bundesliga fixtures of the weekend, RB Leipzig host Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Leipzig enter the weekend in fifth place, on 39 points, while Frankfurt are just one point behind, in sixth. Both teams have incredibly difficult midweek Champions League fixtures and squad rotation may come into play here. Eintracht Frankfurt lost 2-0 to Napoli in the first leg of their round of 16 matchup on Tuesday. Randal Kolo Muani picked up a red card in the process but Frankfurt’s star man will only be suspended in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Leipzig take on Manchester City at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday. After returning as a substitute for the first time since November, Christopher Nkunku was ruled out of Wednesday’s match. It remains to be seen whether Leipzig’s leading scorer will be able to play a part on Saturday. In any case, RB Leipzig are ½-goal home favorites and sit at -145 ATS and moneyline odds. Frankfurt show +125 odds to cover and just +375 odds to win but smashed Leipzig 4-0 earlier this season. Leipzig have since changed coaches and have picked up more points than any other team since September. Frankfurt are also winless in their last four Bundesliga road matches.

The previous four meetings, before Eintracht’s 4-0 win over Leipzig, finished in draws. This time around, a draw is priced at +310 odds. Both teams are currently averaging around two goals per game in the Bundesliga and this is expected to be a high-scoring match. Over 2½ goals display -135 odds for Saturday’s match. Both Leipzig’s Nkunku and Eintracht’s Kolo Muani are in the top five for goals in the Bundesliga this season. Andre Silva and Timo Werner stand to benefit if Nkunku can’t suit up.

FCB Bayern Munich vs Union Berlin FCU

Date & Time:

The winner of this match may very well be on top of the Bundesliga table at the end of the weekend. That will certainly be true if Borussia Dortmund tie or draw at Hoffenheim on Saturday. However, Union haven’t beaten Bayern Munich since getting promoted to the Bundesliga in 2019. Union are 0-3-4 vs. the Bavarians since then but did manage a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture. Union’s chances in this match are hurt by the fact that they have a crucial Europa League Playoff match vs. Ajax on Thursday. The Bundesliga Matchday 22 odds certainly show as much, as Bayern are 1½-goal favorites entering Sunday’s match. Bayern Munich come in at -105 odds to cover the spread and -300 odds to win.

Although Bayern are big favorites to bounce back from their loss at Monchengladbach, they’ll be missing Dayot Upamecano. The French defender picked up a straight red last weekend and that means Matthijs de Ligt should start. Sadio Mane has started training with the team again after getting injured in November, which is great news for Bayern. Kingsley Coman will also need to pass a late fitness test to play in this one. The dynamic Bayern winger is nursing a calf injury. Before drawing 0-0 vs. last-placed Schalke on Sunday, Union Berlin won their previous five Bundesliga matches.

Still, Union +1½ shows just -115 odds and Die Eisernen enter the match at just +750 odds to defeat Bayern. Meanwhile, another draw in this fixture displays +425 odds and it would be a disappointing result for Bayern. There’s still a sense that this incredible patch of form for Union Berlin could be a fluke. They have the chance to silence the doubters on Sunday and their defense has been incredible lately. Union haven’t conceded multiple goals in a match since November. Both over three and under three goals come in at -110 odds for Sunday’s intriguing contest. Also, Bayern are undefeated at home this season with a 6-4-0 record.

Other Important Matches:

TSG Hoffenheim vs Borussia Dortmund BVB

Date & Time:

Borussia Dortmund have been flawless since the Bundesliga’s Winter break ended. They’ve played eight games, in all competitions, and won all of them. They’ve climbed the table to go level on points with Bayern Munich and Union Berlin and are true title contenders. Lately, one of the best Bundesliga betting tips has been taking Dortmund to score more than one goal. They’ve done it in their last seven league games and don’t show many signs of slowing down. Dortmund defeated Hertha 4-1 on Sunday while Saturday’s opponents Hoffenheim dropped a fourth straight match.

Borussia Dortmund enter their match at Hoffenheim as -125 ATS and moneyline road favorites. Over three goals display -115 odds and for good reason. Hoffenheim have conceded three goals per game since the Bundesliga restarted and only failed to score in one of those matches. Hoffenheim +½ shows +105 odds, while the hosts come in at +290 odds to win the match. Dortmund are unbeaten in the last five meetings and four of those have been wins. A draw sits at +290 odds but Edin Terzic’s team will be shooting for a seventh straight win. They’ll have to make do without talented forwards Karim Adeyemi and Youssoufa Moukoko, though.

SCF SC Freiburg vs Bayer Leverkusen

Date & Time:

Quietly just three points outside of first place, SC Freiburg have won their last two matches. They’ll host Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday after Leverkusen head to Monaco on Thursday for the second leg of the Europa League playoff. Leverkusen lost to Monaco last week and Mainz on Sunday by 3-2 scorelines in both. The Bundesliga Matchday 22 Odds price Freiburg as ½-goal favorites for this match but they have less than a 50 percent implied chance of victory. Freiburg, who defeated Leverkusen 3-2 in September, show +125 ATS and moneyline odds.

In fact, Freiburg have been victorious in three of the last four meetings between the two sides. Plus, Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah and forward Amine Adli are both out of this match due to suspension. Leverkusen +½ still comes in at -145 odds and the visitors sit at +210 odds to get a third road win in the last four seasons vs. Freiburg. Freiburg defender Christian Gunter is also suspended for the match on Saturday. Regardless, Freiburg are an excellent 7-2-1 at home this season and Bayer Leverkusen are just 4-1-5 on the road. A draw displays +260 odds, while a few goals are expected. Over 2½ goals for the match come in at -120 odds.
