Soccer – Bundesliga Match Odds: Week 3
RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen Look to Get on Track

Bayern, Dortmund Emerge as Early Bundesliga Leaders
The pre-season Bundesliga odds priced Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund as the two most likely title contenders. It’s just two weeks into the 2022-23 season but they’ve both looked impressive so far and top the table. They’re both favored in their Matchweek 3 games and will look to make it a perfect three wins from three matches. Meanwhile, other members of last season’s top four, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen, have stumbled out of the gate. We’ll go over some of the Bundesliga match odds from this week’s most intriguing games and see if Leipzig and Leverkusen can turn it around.
Borussia Dortmund vs Werder Bremen
One of the better German Bundesliga betting tips over the last few years has been backing Borussia Dortmund to score vs Werder Bremen. Dortmund has scored at least twice in their last six Bundesliga matches vs Werder. In fact, they’ve found the net in the last 20 Bundesliga meetings.
Dortmund comes into Saturday’s match as -250 favorites and has already knocked off solid German teams, in Bayer Leverkusen and SC Freiburg. Despite falling behind 1-0 to Freiburg last weekend, Dortmund’s young substitutes mounted a late comeback. Youssoufa Moukoko and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who scored in the 3-1 win, are 17 and 18, respectively. Dortmund has also conceded just once in two games after their defense was a big problem last season.
On their return to the Bundesliga, after a one-year absence, Werder Bremen have drawn both of their matches 2-2. They are 1½-goal underdogs in this match and show odds of +640 to win. A third consecutive draw for them is priced at +430. This one is expected to be a goal fest, with the over/under currently at 3½.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Hoffenheim
It’s been a rough start to the season for Bayer Leverkusen. They’ve played two and lost two, most recently falling to FC Augsburg 2-1 after the Bundesliga match odds listed Leverkusen as -300 favorites.
They’ve scored just once so far, which seems related to forward Amine Adli and playmaker Florian Wirtz being injured. Patrik Schick is yet to open up his account in 2022-23 after scoring 24 times in the Bundesliga last season. Even with their struggles, Leverkusen is -140 favorites vs Hoffenheim this Saturday.
Hoffenheim was inconsistent last season but certainly does pose an attacking threat. They’re coming off of a 3-2 comeback win vs Bochum and scored twice in both matches vs Leverkusen last season. The over/under goal total stands at 3½ with the under implied as more likely, at -135 odds. Leverkusen scored six times in two matches vs Hoffenheim last season and will hope this match kickstarts their season.
Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig
Union Berlin has picked up where they left off last season, with four points through two matches. They’ll face their toughest test yet this weekend, as RB Leipzig comes up to Berlin on Saturday. Union has been a thorn in Leipzig’s side over the last couple of seasons as Union has won the last three Bundesliga meetings.
Plus, Leipzig is yet to win a match this season and has drawn with both Stuttgart and FC Koln. To be fair, a questionable Dominik Szoboszlai red card completely changed the game vs Koln. A ten-man Leipzig was 20 minutes away from victory and Bundesliga player Christopher Nkunku got on the scoresheet once again.
Leipzig, who will be without Szoboszlai in this match, is +110 road favorites. However, Leipzig haven’t won at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei for three years. Union is priced at intriguing +250 odds to win this match and continue their streak vs Leipzig.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs FC Koln
The Bundesliga schedule 2022 pits Eintracht Frankfurt vs FC Koln on Matchday 3. Sunday’s matchup features two teams participating in UEFA competitions this season. Although, it’s Champions League side Frankfurt who haven’t won yet this season.
Koln, who plays the first leg of a UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier on Thursday, is unbeaten. They drew with RB Leipzig 2-2 last weekend and opened the season up with a 3-1 win over Schalke. Given short rest and playing on the road, Koln is +230 underdogs. Notably, they are favorites to cover the ½-goal spread though, at -130 odds.
Frankfurt recently lost playmaker Filip Kostic to Juventus and it could be a long season for them. With a thin squad like Frankfurt’s, Wolfsburg juggled the Champions League with the Bundesliga last season and was disappointed. A home win could start to normalize things a bit here for Eintracht and they’re listed as +110 favorites.
VfL Bochum vs Bayern Munich
The last time Bayern Munich played at VfL Bochum, Bochum shockingly led 4-1 at halftime. Bayern will try to avoid a repeat on Sunday and enter Matchday 3 with an impressive +7 goal difference. The Bundesliga match odds price Bayern as -425 road favorites and over 3½ sits at -140 odds.
This could be Jamal Musiala’s breakout season for Bayern. The 19-year-old striker has found the net three times in two matches and could a pose a huge danger to Bochum on Sunday. Bochum has scored in both of their matches but the defense has been an issue. They’ve conceded five goals in two matches and lost both of them.
Bayern put seven goals on Bochum in their first meeting last season and we’ve certainly seen them cover the spread as heavy favorites before. The Bavarians are two-goal road favorites and have scored at least two goals in each of their last 10 Bundes matches vs Bochum. They’ll try to keep their perfect record intact come Sunday.
