OSU Moving Up In National Respect
If we’re being honest, we don’t know what to expect from Oregon State’s win over the Utah Utes which have had trouble moving the ball all season long. It was enough to convince voters to move Jonathan Smith’s team up four spots in the national rankings to #15.
It’s the first time in the history of the program that they’ve been a part of the rankings for all six weeks of a new season. Clemson transfer quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei has been exactly what OSU has needed in a signal caller after throwing for 1032 yards along with eight touchdowns in five games.
Since 2018, Oregon State has been consistently good against the number at home (17-7 ATS) and on the road (13-8 ATS). That was with a poor 2021 season (1-5 ATS on the road).
Take that season out of the equation and the Beavers are an incredible 12-3 ATS away from Reser Stadium. The Beavers NCAA Football championship odds improved to 200-1, still a long shot. We continue our Oregon State vs California odds preview by putting the spotlight on the Golden Bears.
Cal Less Than Impressive In Win
We’re not going to pretend that any win isn’t a good win, but last week California should have blown out Arizona State, especially after the Sun Devils were coming off a game effort against the USC Trojans.
Against Oregon State, the Golden Bears have failed to cover in three of their last four meetings and 11 of 18 dating back to 2005. In that time, the Bears are 2-5 ATS as an underdog overall, 1-1 ATS at California Memorial Stadium.
The College Football schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Golden Bears with a trip to Utah and Oregon up next, sandwiched in with a home date against USC.
For now, head coach Justin Wilcox knows that his squad must control the ball on the ground and then cross his fingers that they’ll be there in the fourth quarter against the more talented Beavers, We conclude our Oregon State vs California odds preview with our official selection.
Jump On The Total Now
We like other NCAA Football spreads, so we’re going to stay away from betting. The total is a different story, but it seems bettors have made it difficult to find a decent number after opening at 53.5. Professional money jumped on this early, pounding it down to 51 even though 71% of the money is on the over.
Professional money backed by opinion will always make the books think twice about their number, something they clearly did here. Three of the Bears’ five games have cashed under tickets while the opposite can be said for Oregon State.
We think that Cal will insist on giving the ball to Running Back Damien Martinez, and if they find success will bleed the clock enough to get us under the dwindling total. Take the under 51. That does it for our Oregon State vs California odds preview, we wish you the best with your wagers this weekend.
