2024 CFL Preseason Odds: Winnipeg Favored to Take Grey Cup
Five Teams at +800 or Lower Shows Wide-Open League

The 2024 Canadian Football League opener is just a week away, as the Montreal Alouettes pay a visit to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on June 6. It’s a rematch of last year’s Grey Cup, which was won by Montreal 28-24. The Blue Bombers may have been the better team, but the Alouettes played the better game. As usual, the league is pretty much up for grabs.
More than half of the nine teams are +800 or less. The four remaining teams are +1500 or higher. Winnipeg is a fairly large favorite in the 2024 CFL preseason odds, although it won’t be a walk in the park. There are several CFL teams primed for a solid showing during the season.
2024 CFL Preseason Odds
Winnipeg Blue Bombers +200
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are favored to take the Grey Cup this year after going 14-4 in the regular season. Zach Collaros is back to run the offense after throwing for a league-high 33 TDS last season. Brady Oliveira had a monster season at running back and despite some departures, Winnipeg figures to battle for the title once again.
Toronto Argonauts +500
The Argos finished a league-best 16-2 in the regular season and counting the playoffs were 13-6 against the CFL odds a year ago. Chad Kelly was steady, although not spectacular at quarterback and Toronto’s offensive line is one of the best in the CFL.
Montreal Alouettes +500
The 2024 CFL preseason odds on the defending champions are +500, so they’re given a pretty fair chance at repeating. Cody Fajardo wasn’t spectacular at quarterback, but he won games. Running back William Stanback has moved to British Columbia, so it won’t be easy. Plenty of CFL teams will be gunning for Montreal this season.
British Columbia Lions +650
Vernon Adams and the Lions are +650 to win the Grey Cup after losing in the West Final a year ago. Adams had a big season, but threw a few too many interceptions. He led the league in passing yards and was second in touchdown passes. Getting past Winnipeg in the playoffs has been the team’s biggest problem. The Lions offer some value at these odds.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats +800
The Tiger-Cats were just 8-10 a year ago, but are a little better team than they showed. Hamilton struggled at home, going 3-6 and were 5-4 on the road. Getting past Toronto and Montreal in the East will be a challenge, although it’s a little easier than coming out of the West.
Saskatchewan Roughriders +1500
The Roughriders have the lowest odds among the four longshots, but it’s going to be an uphill battle. The ‘Riders were just 6-12 last season and ended on a seven-game losing streak. The team needs better play from the quarterback position, where nobody really stepped up and ran with the job.
Calgary Stampeders +1600
The 2024 CFL preseason odds on Calgary are higher than we’re accustom to seeing, but the Stampeders were just 6-12 a year ago. Calgary was 8-11 against the spread, so the Stampeders weren’t a team you wanted for your CFL bets.
Edmonton Elks +1600
The Elks were just 4-14 a year ago and it doesn’t look a whole better for Edmonton this season. Edmonton has too many questions on both sides of the ball to be considered a playoff squad. It should be another long season for Edmonton fans.
Ottawa Redblacks +2200
Ottawa was also 4-14 last season and things don’t look any better for the Redblacks this season. The Redblacks allowed the most points in the East and the team was a dismal 1-8 on the road. The offense wasn’t completely horrible, but nowhere good enough to make up for the poor defense.
