League-Best Montreal Huge Favorites at Home

The 10th week of the 2024 Canadian Football League season gives us a quick rematch between Calgary and Toronto.

The Stampeders pulled off a stunning fourth-quarter comeback Sunday to edge the Argonauts 27-23. Toronto entered the fourth quarter with a 23-6 advantage.

British Columbia will try to bounce back after being soundly thumped 25-0 by Winnipeg, while Montreal will look to maintain its winning ways. We’ll run down the four-game schedule with a look at each game in 2024 CFL Week 10 odds.

Roughriders vs Redblacks

Day/Time:
Location: TD Place Stadium, Ottawa, ON

This one has turned out to be one of the better games this week, as Saskatchewan (5-3) visits Ottawa (5-2). Few people expected this one to be a fairly meaningful game at this stage of the season.

The Roughriders are tied with British Columbia for first place in the West, while the Redblacks are in second place in the CFL standings of the East division. Ottawa is favored by 1.5, and the total is 48.5.

Trevor Harris was a full participant in Monday’s practice, so the Saskatchewan quarterback could return to the line-up in this one. Shea Patterson did a pretty good job while filing in. Ottawa will have Dru Brown back behind center, and he’s been steady.

This game has the lowest total in this week’s CFL betting odds, but wouldn’t be surprised to see the teams manage to sneak over the total.

Stampeders vs Argonauts

Day/Time:
Location: BMO Field, Toronto, ON

This one will have a tough time matching the excitement of last week’s game, which featured an impressive comeback from Calgary to steal a win. The 2024 CFL Week 10 odds have Toronto favored by 1 with a total of 49.5. One of the keys in last week’s game was Calgary recording six sacks and Toronto not having any. That made the difference down the stretch and allowed Calgary to get the cover inside the final minute of the game on a field goal.

Calgary is now 4-0 at home this season, but 0-4 on the road, while the Argonauts are 3-1 at home and 1-3 on the road. There’s no reason to expect that not to continue here and will have to take the Argonauts to get their quick revenge.

Tiger-Cats vs Alouettes

Day/Time:
Location: Molson Memorial Stadium, Montreal, QC

The 2024 CFL Week 10 odds show Montreal as the the largest favorite on the board this week. The Alouettes are favored by 7.5 points, and the total is 50.5. Hamilton is 2-6 on the year despite Bo Levi Mitchell leading the league in passing yards and touchdowns. He also leads the league in interceptions, but you must take the bad with the good in Mitchell’s case. He’ll have a tough task in throwing against Montreal’s defense, which is No. 1 in pass defense.

Cody Fajardo is having a solid season for Montreal. He’s not being asked to do too much, which is when he’s at his best. You do have to worry a little bit about motivation for Montreal, which has a 1.5-game lead over Saskatchewan, who it plays next week. If the Alouettes are focused, they should win by double digits. It’s not easy to lay so many points to Mitchell and the Tiger-Cats, who possess the ability to get the backdoor cover. The under gets the slightest of leans.

Lions vs Elks

Day/Time:
Location: Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton, AB

British Columbia looks to bounce back after being shutout last week by Winnipeg. It was the team’s worst effort of the season. The Lions were favored by 6 with a total of 53.5 points when the game opened, but it’s been pulled off the board after it was announced Vernon Adams is week-to-week with a leg injury. Jake Dolegala or Chase Brice should start this game, although don’t be surprised to see the Lions make a move for a more established QB.

The CFL scores show Tre Ford’s return to the line-up was huge for Edmonton, as he led the Elks to their first win of the season last week. The 42 points was a season-high for Edmonton, as Ford threw for 252 yards and two TDs and added 46 yards on the ground. The Lion defense will have to control his running ability.

With no line currently available, there isn’t much to do on this game right now. Adams will be a big loss, although it looks to be a short-term injury. That’s the best British Columbia could have hoped for.
