2024 CFL Week 9 Odds: Bombers in Must Win Situation

The ninth week of the 2024 CFL schedule features four teams with winning records playing four teams with losing records. Despite that, the 2024 CFL Week 9 odds show the biggest spread of the week is 5.5 points. None of the other games have higher than a 3.5-point spread.

Despite a few mismatches in the standings, the games are predicted to be somewhat close. From a fan standpoint it’s not the greatest of slates, but there are a few decent wagering opportunities ahead.

Before the season started, this looked like it was going to be one of the better games of the year. British Columbia has held up its end of the bargain. The Lions are 5-2 and tied with Saskatchewan for the West Division lead.

Winnipeg, the preseason Grey Cup favorite, is laboring with a 2-6 record. Quarterback Zach Collaros, who threw for 33 touchdowns last year, has just three this season to go with eight interceptions. Quarterback play hasn’t been a problem for British Columbia, as Vernon Adams leads the league in passing yards and is No. 2 in TD passes.

The Lions are just 2-2 on the road, while Winnipeg is 2-2 at home and 0-4 on the road. The CFL odds show British Columbia is favored by 3.5 with a total of 50. Would have to give the slightest of leans to Winnipeg +3.5.

The 2024 CFL Week 9 odds have Montreal favored by 3.5 points on the road at Hamilton and the total is 50.5. The Alouettes are a league-best 6-1 straight up this season. Montreal is 3-0 on the road this season and has gotten solid play from Cody Fajardo.

Third-string quarterback Davis Alexander was solid in last week’s win after replacing Caleb Evans, who started in place of the injured Fajardo. Fajardo was placed on the six-game injured list. Montreal’s defense is among the best in the league. Hamilton is scoring some points, but allowing plenty more.

Both Montreal and Hamilton have scored 195 points on the season, but Montreal is allowing 10 fewer points per game. Take the Alouettes in this one.

Edmonton had a great opportunity to get its first win of the season last week, but the defense forgot to show up in a 44-28 loss to Hamilton. Bo Levi Mitchell threw for five touchdowns to lead Hamilton to the win and send Edmonton to its seventh straight loss.

Saskatchewan was on the losing end to Montreal, but now returns home where it is 3-0 on the season. The CFL scores show the Roughriders are the second-best scoring defense in the league. Saskatchewan is favored by 5.5 and the total is 51. It’s doubtful Mitchell goes off quite like he did last week and will lean to the under in this one.

The 2024 CFL Week 9 odds show Calgary as 3-point favorites over Toronto with a total of 49.5. The Argonauts are 4-3 on the season and 1-2 on the road. The Stampeders are 3-4, but have won all three home games and dropped all four on the road. Home teams have only lost 10 games straight-up this season.

This one could be another home loss if Toronto plays how it’s capable of. The Argonauts can play defense, but have made some bad plays that have hurt them at times this year. Calgary quarterback Jake Maier is having a decent year and giving his team a chance to win most games.

The Stampeders haven’t always capitalized. This is probably the best game on the 2024 CFL schedule for this week. It looks like it could go either way, so will have to take Toronto +3 to keep it close.
