Lazio vs Bayern Munich H2H

This is just the third meeting between Lazio and Bayern Munich on the Champions League schedule. In Lazio’s last UCL appearance, in 2020-21, they met with Bayern Munich in the round of 16. Bayern picked up 4-1 and 2-1 wins en route to a 6-2 aggregate victory.

Immobile Hits Milestone for Lazio

On Saturday, Lazio’s Ciro Immobile became just the eighth player to reach 200 career Serie A goals. The longtime Lazio striker scored the second goal in the Biancocelesti’s 3-1 win at Cagliari. Immobile pounced on a rebounded shot and finished from a tight angle to give Lazio a two-goal lead. Lazio will need Immobile to be at his best when they take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Immobile was Lazio’s leading scorer in the group stage, with three goals in six appearances. Lazio went 3-1-2 in Group E to finish in second place in the Champions League table. While Lazio had no problems scoring last season, they’ve struggled to find consistency in front of goal in 2023-24. They scored 7 goals in six group-stage matches and have averaged just 1.2 goals per game in Serie A this season. Immobile is the only Lazio player with five or more goals, in all competitions. However, Felipe Anderson has been a key contributor, with three goals and seven assists.

At the moment, just defender Patric is injured for Lazio. He’s listed as doubtful for Wednesday’s match but Maurizio Sarri has other solid options. Bettors should note that Lazio has won just one of their last four games, in all competitions. They’ve also conceded three goals in two of their last four. Currently, the Lazio vs Bayern Munich lines price the Biancocelesti as +390 underdogs.

Bayern Slip up in Title Race

On Saturday, Bayern Munich had their biggest match of the season to date. They went up against Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen and couldn’t get anything going. Bayern fell 3-0 on the road and now trails Leverkusen by five points in the Bundesliga. Bayern have won 11 Bundesliga titles in a row but their streak is at serious risk. Still, Bayern does show the second-best odds to become UCL champions. At the moment, the Bavarians sit at +400 odds to win their first Champions League crown since 2020.

Bayern is one of the most dangerous teams in the competition, with forwards like Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, and Thomas Muller. Kane scored four goals and provided three assists for the Bavarians in the group stage and has been a key part of Bayern’s success. Defense has been a bit of an issue in recent weeks, as Bayern have conceded six goals in their last three games overall.

Thomas Tuchel also has some injury issues on his hands. Alphonso Davies, Kingsley Coman, Konrad Laimer and Serge Gnabry are all out. Meanwhile, new signing Bryan Zaragoza is recovering from the flu. Joshua Kimmich did return from an injury last weekend and he could be in Tuchel’s starting lineup come Wednesday. When Bayern are playing fluid football, it’s a joy to watch but they have lost and failed to score in two of their last five matches.

Bayern Munich vs Lazio Odds

Lazio is going for their first win over Bayern Munich here but it will certainly be difficult. After all four of Bayern’s previous losses this season, they’ve managed to win their next match. Here, the Lazio vs Bayern Munich lines list the visitors as -155 favorites. Incredibly, Bayern are unbeaten in their last 11 away games in the round of 16, with a 7-4-0 record.

Since the UCL format change, Lazio has never advanced past the round of 16. They’re +390 underdogs but Lazio +1 does come in at -135 odds. Meanwhile, Bayern -1 sits at +115 odds but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Bavarians blow Lazio away here either. Bettors can also take a draw at +310.

With both defenses struggling to keep their opponents out recently, over 2.5 goals are priced at -135 odds. On paper, this appears to be a nightmare matchup for Lazio, who has struggled vs. athletic teams this season. Still, the Biancocelesti have lost just two games at the Stadio Olimpico all season.
