Thrilling Cycling Action and Rich Sporting Tradition

What Is the Giro d’Italia?
The Giro d’Italia 2023, the premier Grand Tour of the men’s road cycling season, has recently ended.
Spanning from the 6th to the 28th of May, this stage race promised and dished out thrilling competition and intense battles for the prestigious pink jersey in the 106th edition of the Tour of Italy. The Giro d’Italia standings have never been this jawdropping!
Covering an extensive distance of 3489.2 kilometers (2168.1 miles), the race unfolded entirely within the borders of its home country, Italy, with a brief detour through the picturesque Swiss canton of Valais. Stage 13 concluded in Valais, while Stage 14 commenced there, adding a touch of diversity to the route. The demanding course comprised a staggering cumulative altitude gain of 51,400 meters (168,600 ft).
Unlike the previous six editions, the Giro’s final and 21st stage broke from tradition by transforming into a flat procession, reminiscent of the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. This departure from the individual time trial format added an exciting twist to the conclusion of the race.
