Summerslam 2024 Odds Preview: Big Value in This Big Wrestler

Nia Jax Gives A Bank-Friendly Betting Option

We are just two days from WWE’s Summerslam at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. It will be the 37th Summerslam and the second emanating from The Forest City.

The last time ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer’ was in Cleveland was in 1996 at Gund Arena when WWF Champion Shawn Michaels and Vader headlined. To give you an idea of how long ago this was, there was a free-for-all match before the pay-per-view that featured Yokozuna against some guy named ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.

Cleveland’s ‘The Miz’ and R-Truth will host the event at 7:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 p.m. PT on Peacock.

It will be the last Summerslam to be on the WWE Network with the promotion switching to Netflix in January. Let’s get into our Summerslam 2024 odds preview.

Summer Slam 2024 Championship

WWE Women’s Championship: Nia Jax(Challenger) vs. Bayley (Champion)

We start our Summerslam 2024 odds preview with this match because it’s the one match where there’s uncertainty surrounding who will win. Oddsmakers have made Nia Jax a -130 favorite which should give us some insight into how this WWE result may conclude.

Rarely do we see the challenger to a title favored, let alone a -130 favorite. Jax won the Queen of the Ring Tournament in May, earning her a chance at the title Sunday.

The history of Jax has been well documented as she tries to shed the label as a dangerous wrestler which isn’t a term of endearment in the real world. The WWE continues to push Jax because she gives the company a female wrestler of some size who plays the villain role almost better than anyone in the division.

This is a difficult handicap because the WWE isn’t in the business of quickly taking titles off champions of late but there is a history of this specific title changing hands after short runs. Bayley has been champion for 116 days but we think that run ends at Summerslam.

Take Jax, who has not held the Women’s Championship since 2018, at -130.

CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre with Seth “Freakin” Rollins as the Guest Referee

Drew McIntyre is a massive -300 favorite to beat CM Punk, a number that came out much shorter than anticipated. With Punk battling injuries the WWE managed to keep the veteran’s name in the mouth of McIntyre long enough to hit a crescendo at Summerslam.

There is a reason for McIntyre’s wide odds. With the special guest referee being Seth “Freakin” Rollins, this makes the match feel like a two-on-one, although we think he’ll do everything he can to disrupt the momentum of each competitor.

There will be a point where Rollins’ presence will cause some sort of distraction to give Drew the win while adding another chapter to this storyline.

Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (Champion) vs. Rhea Ripley

Liv Morgan is a massive WWE betting odds favorite (-500) to retain her title against the challenger Rhea Ripley. The WWE isn’t taking the title off Liv Motagn anytime soon because the fans love her after she captured the title by beating Becky Lynch at the King and Queen of the Ring event in May.

Aside from the storyline, Morgan legitimately caused Ripley to lose her Women’s World Championship title after a backstage attack that left the champion with an arm injury. The champ was forced to relinquish the belt.

The Dominik Mysterio angle has added to one of the most compelling storylines in the women’s division in quite some time. Morgan will retain but the writers will do something to keep Ripley’s reputation intact.

World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther vs. Damien Priest (Champion)

Gunther is a -500 favorite to win the World Heavyweight Championship but it will interesting to see how the WWE continues its push for Priest, who is well-liked throughout the company, should he lose.

This will be one of the best matches on the card. But this number indicates that someone got credible WWE news that Gunther will take another step in his career with a World Heavyweight Championship reign.

A Gunther victory will add to a storyline that includes two guys the WWE and the fans love.

There are four other matches on the card but we felt that these were the best matches from a betting perspective with the heavy favorites likely to win in each. We can’t wait to see how Roman Reigns plays a part in Summerslam as is the rumor.
