Arsenal Look to Usurp Defending Champions Man City

2024 Premier League Season Odds: EPL Returns August 16th

Man City Four-Time Defending Champions

In May, Manchester City won a record fourth straight Premier League title. They’ll look to extend their record in 2024-25 but they could be in for another title challenge from continuously improving Arsenal.

Liverpool are usually in the mix as well but Jurgen Klopp has stepped down from his managerial post and former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has taken over. We’ll take a look at all of the main contenders, and more, as we go through the 2024 Premier League season odds.

Two Horse Race?

Manchester City beat out Arsenal to the Premier League title by only two points last season. The Gunners are getting closer and closer to unseating Man City as the Premier League’s best team but City are once again favorites to win the league.

City show +150 Premier League winner odds and could clinch an unprecedented fifth straight Premier League title. Kevin De Bruyne missed a significant amount of time last season but should once again be a key player in City’s midfield if he can stay healthy.

Savinho should add some creativity and dynamism to City’s wings and Ballon d’Or candidate Rodri is the focal point of this City squad. Last season Man City went 28-7-3 and all of their losses were without Rodri in the starting XI.

Notably, Julian Alvarez is on the cusp of joining Atletico Madrid and City’s forward depth is temporarily thin. Still, Erling Haaland has won the Golden Boot in each of his two EPL seasons.

Last season’s title race came down to the final day and second-placed Arsenal had an unbelievable season. They went 28-5-5, keeping 18 clean sheets and conceding at least seven goals fewer than every other team. David Raya held down the number one keeper position, while their defense has improved in the Summer.

Mikel Arteta added Italian international Riccardo Calafiori to a group that includes Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, and William Saliba. With players like Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Odegaard further up the pitch, the Gunners can win their first EPL title (+165) since their invincible season, in 2003-04.

Strong Champions League Contenders

Liverpool (+650) may have a bit of an adjustment period in Arne Slot’s first season. The Reds tailed off towards the end of last season but finished only nine points behind Man City, in third place.

Slot needs to unlock Darwin Nunez’s potential if Liverpool are to have a shot of clinching the first EPL crown since 2020. Mo Salah is now 32 but the legendary Liverpool winger scored 18 goals last season. Injuries derailed Liverpool last season but if they can stay healthy they can play themselves into the title race.

Chelsea have an astonishing 41 players in their first team squad and their Summer transfer business is far from over. New coach Enzo Maresca has a tough job on his hands and Chelsea are notoriously fast to fire underperforming managers.

With Cole Palmer leading the way, Chelsea did finish in sixth place and won their last five games of the 2023-24 campaign. The 2024 Premier League season odds price them as +1600 dark horses but we’re not confident in their chances.

Manchester United came in eighth place in 2023-24, which was their worst finish in the Premier League era. Injuries ravaged them, and Erik ten Hag hopes for better luck this time.

There are high hopes for former Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee and Ten Hag needs big contributions from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford for United to contend. They sit at +2000 outright odds to win their first title in 12 years.

Tottenham are also priced at +2000 odds to win the EPL but they often looked chaotic in Ange Postecoglou’s first season as coach. Spurs were in the Champions League race all of 2023-24 but finished in fifth place behind Aston Villa. Son Heung-min is still a key player for the North London club.

Longshots

This is a make-or-break season for Eddie Howe and Newcastle United. They’re not playing in European competitions and have some exciting talents, including Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon.

We do think Newcastle have a great shot to make the Champions League for a second time in three years but +3300 soccer betting odds to win the title are just about right.

Unai Emery led a resurgent Aston Villa (+5000) to fourth place in the Premier League in 2023-24 as Ollie Watkins scored 19 goals. Despite bringing in Amadou Onana, Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Jaden Philogene, Samuel Iling-Junior, Lewis Dobbin, Enzo Barrenechea, and Ross Barkley, it’ll be difficult to repeat that feat.

Villa will be playing Champions League football this season. and it could be difficult to balance both the UCL and EPL.

Brighton and Hove Albion’s manager Roberto De Zerbi left for Marseille this Summer and 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler is now the youngest manager in Premier League history.

Brighton’s goal this season will be to get back into European competition. Their Premier League scores towards the end of 2023-24 were highly disappointing, as they finished in 11th place.

The Seagulls are priced at +15000 odds to win the Premier League title for the first time.

West Ham (+20000) also have a new manager, Julen Lopetegui, and they finished in ninth place in 2023-24.

The Hammers have added Niclas Fullkrug, Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, and Guido Rodriguez in a bid to return to contend for a Champions League place.

Crystal Palace (+20000) went 7-3-3 after Oliver Glasner took over in February. They’re one of the EPL teams to be excited about heading into this season, especially if Eberechi Eze sticks around.
