EPL Matchday 12 Odds: Preview, Breakdown, Best Bets

Man United vs Tottenham Headlines Midweek Matchday

Gunners Four Points Clear

No matter what happens during Premier League Matchday 12, Arsenal will remain on top of the EPL table. The Gunners got a gritty win over Leeds United on Sunday to go four points clear, with Manchester City losing to Liverpool. With LFC back on track, there are no fewer than seven strong top four contenders this season. Two will meet on Wednesday as Manchester United host Tottenham. We’ll cover the match and review the rest of the key EPL Matchday 12 odds in this Premier League preview.

Games of the Week:

Mo Salah was the hero as Liverpool got a massive win over Manchester City on Sunday. The Reds snapped a three-game winless streak in the Premier League but are still six points outside the top four. Next up on the EPL schedule is West Ham. The Hammers are a tricky opponent and are 4-0 in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Liverpool, who are still undefeated at Anfield in the EPL, are -225 favorites. Last season, these teams split their meetings as the home team won both matches. West Ham, who are +600 underdogs, haven’t won at Anfield since 2015. They have, however, averaged two goals per game in their last three.

Still, the Hammers have played in a lot of low scoring matches. Just two of West Ham’s ten matches have gone over 2½ goals. Still, both teams to score shows -145 odds and it’s happened in six of nine Liverpool matches.

Brentford vs Chelsea:

Ivan Toney continued his stellar start to 2022-23 with two goals vs Brighton on Friday. Brentford moved back into the top half with a win and host red hot Chelsea in a West London derby on Wednesday. Under Graham Potter, Chelsea have won five consecutive matches in all competitions. Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has completed his redemption arc and seems to have won back the starting spot.

Kepa made some absurd saves he had no business making in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday. Now, the EPL Matchday 12 odds price Chelsea as -155 favorites to win a fifth straight Premier League match. The Bees, who are 3-1-1 at home this season, are +400 underdogs.

Last season, the away team won both meetings, including a shocking 4-1 Brentford win at Stamford Bridge. While no Chelsea player has more than three EPL goals so far, Toney has eight already for Brentford. He’ll look for his first career goal vs the Blues on Wednesday.

Newcastle vs Everton:

Newcastle have been completely transformed under Eddie Howe. The Magpies are a team that no one wants to come up against and are outside top four contenders. They managed to snag a draw at Old Trafford on Sunday and have lost just once this season. They’ve also conceded the fewest goals. No one would be surprised if Wednesday’s match vs Everton were a defensive battle.

Coming into Wednesday’s match, Everton are +400 underdogs.

Everton, despite losing their last two, have the fifth-best defensive record in the league. The problem is that Frank Lampard’s Toffees have also scored the fourth-fewest goals in the league. Coming into Wednesday’s match, Everton are +400 underdogs. Anthony Gordon returning from suspension and Mason Holgate nearing a return are potential big boosts for Everton.

Meanwhile, Newcastle, who are unbeaten in their last five matches, are priced at -165 odds to win. A draw, which has occurred in just two of the last 17 fixtures shows +280 odds. Low scoring matches have been the norm for both teams this season. Over 2½ goals has hit in just 40 percent of Newcastle’s matches and 30 percent of Everton’s. Everton are carrying a bunch of defensive injuries into this match, though.

Manchester United vs Tottenham:

Most eyes will be on Manchester United vs Tottenham on Wednesday. Tottenham can move within one point of Arsenal with a win but playing at Old Trafford is intimidating. Even in a down year for them, the Red Devils won both meetings last season. The EPL Matchday 12 odds price Manchester United at +125 to win again on Wednesday. Tottenham, who have won four of their last five matches, are +210 underdogs.

The EPL Matchday 12 odds price Manchester United at +125 to win again on Wednesday. Tottenham, who have won four of their last five matches, are +210 underdogs.

Harry Kane scored again as Spurs beat Everton 2-0. It capped off an excellent week for them, as they also beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the UCL. Meanwhile, Manchester United failed to score vs Newcastle United but kept their first EPL shutout since September. While both teams kept clean sheets on Matchday 11, this has been a high scoring fixture recently. The last four meetings have finished with three or more goals.

This fixture will also be interesting as it’s the first Premier League matchup between Antonio Conte and Erik ten Hag. Ten Hag has a decision to make whether to start Cristiano Ronaldo up top or not. Ronaldo has struggled for what feels like the first time in his career. The 37-year old striker has just one Premier League goal this season and is finally showing signs of age. Meanwhile, Kane is in great form, with nine goals in 10 matches this season. Either way, this is a crucial match for both teams.

A Quick Note

Arsenal vs Manchester City would have been the pick of the bunch this week but it is currently postponed. That’s because the circumstances surrounding the Queen’s death postponed Arsenal’s Europa League match vs PSV to Thursday. So, we’ll have to wait longer to see the two top teams in the Premier League face off. The soccer betting lines price Arsenal as -200 favorites vs PSV on Thursday. Meanwhile, Manchester City get some time to regroup after their first loss of the season. They next face Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.
