EPL Matchday 16 Odds & Preview

English Premier League's Last Matches Until Boxing Day

Who Hits the Break in First?

Arsenal are making a real case for being title contenders so far. Through 14 matches, they lead the Premier League and defending champions Manchester City are two points back. Both teams will undoubtedly want to head into the World Cup break in first. Man City face Brentford in a match they’re heavily favored to win, while Arsenal play away at Wolves on Saturday. A win will keep the Gunners on top of the table until play resumes on Boxing Day. Let’s take a look at some of the most important EPL Matchday 16 odds.

Games of the Week:

Tottenham vs. Leeds United

Date, time (TV):
Location: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

On the brink of the relegation zone and losing his job, Jesse Marsch and Leeds have won two in a row. Now in 12th place in the Premier League standings, Leeds head to London to take on Tottenham. Spurs have lost three of their last five EPL matches and need a win here to be assured of holding a top four spot into the World Cup break.

Spurs, who lost in the EFL Cup midweek, are -170 favorites and show even money odds to cover the one-goal spread. Leeds sit at -120 odds to cover the spread and have only lost by more than one goal in two games.

Jesse Marsch’s side lost twice to Tottenham last season and are +450 favorites. A draw hasn’t occurred in any of the four meetings since Leeds got promoted in 2020 and sits at +335 odds.

Three or more goals have been scored in all of those matches and the over/under total is three here. The over is listed at even odds and under three comes in at -120 odds.

Tottenham have conceded in each of their last four matches and Leeds have done the same in six straight.

Newcastle United vs. Chelsea

Date, time (TV):
Location: St James’ Park,Newcastle

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are on fire. They’ve won their last four matches and are firmly in the top four now. Miguel Almiron went from being the butt of jokes to one of the Premier League’s best players. The Paraguayan winger has scored eight goals and his work ethic is infectious. Next up for Newcastle is a struggling Chelsea side that’s lost three of their last four matches in all competitions.

The EPL Matchday 16 odds list this match as a pick’em. Newcastle show -145 odds to cover at home, while Chelsea are +125 underdogs ATS. The moneylines are as follows: Newcastle +130, Chelsea +210 and Draw +245. What’s been most impressive about this Newcastle run is that they’ve done it without star striker Alexander Isak.

He’s expected to be out until after the World Cup and Chelsea also have several injuries. Defenders Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana are all out. Plus, goalkeeper Kepa and midfielder N’Golo Kante are all on the sidelines.

The Magpies have proven to be an incredibly difficult soccer team to defeat this season and are unbeaten at home. Their only loss came in 90th minute stoppage time at Liverpool back in August.

Chelsea have won each of the last four meetings by keeping a shutout but Newcastle are looking incredibly strong now. Over 2½ goals is slightly favored on the odds board, at -115. The under, which has occurred in five of the last six meetings, is priced at -105 odds.

Wolves vs. Arsenal

Date, time (TV):
Location: Molineux, Wolverhampton

Arsenal made a real statement win at Chelsea last week and are looking to continue their title challenge. The Gunners head to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday looking to head into the break in first place.

They currently hold a two-point lead over Manchester City and have been a big surprise so far. Wolves, on the other hand, have really struggled despite some talent on their roster. They’re currently in the relegation zone and their only wins have come over Southampton and Nottingham Forest.

On Saturday, Arsenal are one-goal favorites, at -105 odds to cover. Wolves are implied to be more likely to cover the spread, at -115 odds. Arsenal won both fixtures last season by a one-goal margin.

The Gunners are -185 favorites to win heading into the match, while Wolves show a +525 price. None of the last five meetings have finished in a draw, but one is priced at +330 EPL Odds.

Regardless, over 2½ goals sits at -130 odds for the match and the under comes in at +110.

With Oleksandr Zinchenko back from injury, the Gunners can field their strongest possible XI. Wolves’ forward line is incredibly depleted, with Pedro Neto, Raul Jimenez, Diego Costa and Sasa Kalajdzic all out.

It’s no wonder that Wolves have scored the fewest goals in the EPL up to this point, with eight. Regardless, over 2½ goals sits at -130 odds for the match and the under comes in at +110.

Fulham vs. Manchester United

Date, time (TV):
Location: Craven Cottage,London

Fulham have been a tricky team to play against this season and Manchester United could find it tough on Sunday. The Cottagers have lost just one match at Craven Cottage this season but are ½-goal underdogs vs. Man U. Fulham sit at +105 odds to cover, while Manchester United are priced at -125 EPL Matchday 16 odds ATS.

Nine of Fulham’s 23 goals this season have been scored by Aleksandar Mitrović but the big Serbian is out with an injury. Perhaps that’s why Fulham show just +315 moneyline odds.

Manchester United are expected to bounce back from an EPL defeat at Aston Villa as they sit at -125 odds to win. Meanwhile, a draw comes in at +300 odds. Mitrovic isn’t the only starter out for Fulham, which could hurt them.

Midfielder Harrison Reed and defender Kenny Tete are both serving yellow card suspensions. Defender Diogo Dalot is suspended for Man U and Raphael Varane is still out with injury. United’s forward line also has issues as Jadon Sancho, Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo are all questionable.

The over/under total for the match is three goals. As things stand, the under shows -115 odds and the over sits at -105 odds. A whopping 86 percent of Fulham’s matches this season have had three or more goals scored. Both teams have had some defensive issues at various points this EPL season. So, a shootout wouldn’t be surprising but there are a lot of attacking players out.
